Homebrew Arachilid Species Details

Humanoid in form, the arachilids still possess the traits of their arachnid cousins. Even at first glance, they are unmistakably monstrosities. They possess a hard outer shell covering their body, eight eyes and small spider-like fangs protruding from their face, and four spider legs serving as extra arms. Most arachilids possess a darker colour, with occasional red or yellow patterns along their chitinous form. Though they possess a thin frame, it should not be mistaken as a weakness. A fully grown adult arachilid is not a force one should reckon with, as they possess a keen intellect and cunning. During the metamorphosis into adulthood, they molt and shift from small to large and small again, leaving them vulnerable. The arachilids are a bizarre, posh folk with strange personality, behavior, and social structure. one of the strangest behaviors they exhibit it the tendency for larger ones to wear smaller members of the species, who seem to be perfectly content with this. In fact, the social structure of the arachilids seems to be based on size, with much larger ones, typically human sized, lead the smaller ones (typically somewhat less intelligent as well) through their survival. It also seems that the chitin which they possess varies based on their role in the groups they are with. Larger ones tend to have more coverage, so as to help protect the brood. Most Arachilids, when married (mated), stay together until their offspring is a teen (10 years). After this, the teen typically becomes independent, and the couple (typically) stays together. They are capable of producing a substance similar to spider silk, though it is much more versatile and powerful.
