This is a playable dog race 

Awakened Dog Traits

Keen smell, protective, bite, +2 con +1 char

+1 char +2 con

Using your charms and natural strength your charisma and constitution goes up, by 1 and 2 points respectably

Keen smell

Keen Smell: The dog has ADV Perception checks that rely on smell.

Bite

You bite and opponent dealing 1d4 (piercing) damage 

Protective

 

When an enemy within 5 feet of you targets an ally you may use your reaction to make a bite attack on the triggering enemy. If their attack lands or the ally fails their save your attack is made with advantage.
