Homebrew Accrematon Species Details

"Accrematon" is the name given by an inquisitive scholar who was the first to encounter such a being. Accrematons recognize themselves as beings whose souls exist within a stone which has arcane properties. They are able to use materials such as stones and wood from their surroundings to construct a body which is held together by a form of gravitational magic. This body is used to both protect their soul-stone as well as traverse terrain.

Accrematon Traits

Consisting of primarily rocks and other common materials, Accrematons are not particularly mobile yet are quite durable.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score is increased by 2 and your Wisdom score is increased by 1.

Age

Accrematons have no maturation process. You are immune to aging effects.

Size

Whilst Accrematons can change their general size and shape, they tend to default to a bulky humanoid form of around 8 feet.

Inorganic Resistance

You have a natural AC of 20 and cannot equip armor. Being constructed primarily of rocks and having no biological systems, you are granted several traits:

  • You are immune to disease and poison.
  • You do not eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You do not sleep, nor need sleep. You can be rendered unconscious via magic.

Blindsight

With no eyes, you sense your environment magically. You can perceive your environment in detail in a 120 degree cone in front of you within 60 feet and can sense general movement up to 20 feet beyond that. This sense is obstructed by solid surfaces.

Accretion

Your primary method of incorporating objects into your "body." An Accrematon must spend 1 hour with an inanimate object in order to fully recognize and incorporate an object into itself. Once so attached, this object can be manipulated into whichever position in/on the body it is desired. You can only incorporate 5 complex objects into your body at a time (complex objects include equipment and tools). Once incorporated, that object will not fall out of/off of your body (even if unconscious) unless forcefully removed by a STR check of 20. You can remove or eject an object at any time, though not with enough force to cause damage. Your range of influence is a sphere of 6 feet centered around your soul-stone. As such, you can shape your body at will outside of combat. This allows you to fit through any opening as small as your largest component piece (You can determine your largest object as 1D20+15 inches when you create your character or if you need to reform a new body altogether). If combat is initiated while you are not in your default form, you must spend an action returning to normal before you can move.

Hard of Hearing

While your soul-stone can interpret sounds and language, your hearing is naturally lacking. You have disadvantage when rolling for hearing based perception checks.

Sink Like a Stone

You cannot swim when primarily composed of rocks or other solid materials. In water, you immediately sink to the bottom and have a walk speed of 20.
