Homebrew Awakened Primate Species Details

Whether it be Magic, blessing from the gods or just dumb luck, some Primates have "awakened" and now struggle with fitting into a world that is not ready for them. Luckily, they can usually pass as short hairy humans or skinny beardless dwarfs. Being at one point an animal they still carry similar traits of their past selves (mischievous, territorial, etc.).

Every Shape and Size

With there being so many Breeds of primates, it's hard to distinguish a single Breed with the race. Depending on their breed Awakened Primates can range from 1' up to 5' upright and can range anywhere between 45-300 lbs. Depending on what caused them to awaken their maximum age can be indefinite but in the same mean that they became sentient they could also be turned back into normal Primates.

Avid Climbers

All Primates are able to climb easily and without issues  which can give them a great advantage in many situation both in a battle or exploring

Nomadic Life Styles

Being outcast Awakened primates tend to be very nomadic and tend to avoid large cities or towns in fear of being ridiculed or judged by who they are. The few that are able to carve out a life for them selves are usually very determined and become territorial to anything that is their's

 

Names and Beliefs

Names of the Awakened Primate race usually consist of 2 categories, the names they were either given from being pets or entertainers, or names they adopted from their past achievements that they think are worth noting. As for Beliefs Primates usually stay oblivious to religion but it's not uncommon for them to adopt religions

Age

Awakened Primates reach adulthood in their mid-teens however they are usually well into their adulthood when "Awakened" and very rarely come of age while sentient. Depending on the origin of them being Awakened, they could live indefinitely.

Alignment

Much like humans, Awakened Primates tend toward no particular alignment. The best and the worst are found among them.

Size

Depending on breed Awakened Primates can be between 1'-5' fully upright however they are usually on the Taller side of that spectrum Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Language

You can speak, read, and write Common.

Tail

Most of the Awakened Primate race have tails which they can use for a variety of different uses either to interact with items to climb or in rare occasions attack

Climbers

Most if not all Awakened Primates are able to climb easily up many surfaces
