Homebrew Awakened Primate Species Details
The Awakened Primate is was once a simple simian, living happily in it's natural environment. it was taken from it's home and is twisted, usually against their will, by magics either as a joke, an act of cruelty or some misguided attempt to create sentient life. This intelligence can be a curse, however, as they soon realize the insignificance of their species on a larger global and planar scale.
Awakened Primates quickly accept that they no longer belong in their former habitats and venture into the larger world to discover a new life purpose. Many strive towards a virtuous role in civilised society in an effort to be accepted by their new 'troupe', but some, used to a life of conflict and dominance, wish to use their new found power to dominate lesser beasts or people to gain some semblance of control over a threatening new world.
Awakened Primate Traits
Primate TraitsNatural Climber
Adapt Climbers. Your natural agility allows you to climb at full speed, rather than half. You can also climb across ceilings, but must succeed on either a DC 12 Athletics or Acrobatics check; failing causes you to lose your grip and fall.
Apposable Toes
You can carry items in your feet. You cannot, however, attack with weapons held in your feet. While carrying items in one or both feet, your speed is halved. Your climbing speed is unaffected if you are holding items with your feet but both your hands are free.
Prehensile Tail
You can use your tail to carry objects weighing no more than 2 pounds. You cannot make attacks with your tail.
Darkvision
Due to the attitude of hunting during night-time, you can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darknessas if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Natural Weapons
You are proficient with slings, greatclubs, quarterstaffs, and blowguns.
Proficiency of the wild
You are proficient in the Athletics skill. When you make a Strength (Athletics) check to climb, you add double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus.
