Homebrew Dealmaker Species Details
"He appeared infront of me, offering a hand. I didn't know what it would cost me, but I knew I had to. As I took his hand I felt his power rush into me, but I also felt a terrible loss."
— Winry Hearthborn, Queen of the Northern Isles
Born from the desires of man, these eternal beings will do anything to avoid going back to the void. Whether from terrible luck or fate, what you will play as is a mere shadow of its true power. Dealmakers can strike up a deal with another sentient creature. Whatever they desire they will achieve it through these means.
These creatures appear in all shapes and sizes and will do anything to achieve even more power. Will you accept their deal, or not? They are born with a true form appearing however you wish, though usually humanoid. No features will be gained as a result of their appearance.
Dealmaker Traits
It’s hard to make generalizations about Dealmakers, but they will have these traits.Age
Dealmakers are born into adulthood but only live for a century.
Size
Dealmakers vary widely in height and build because of their deals, but their true forms are Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
The Art of The Deal
You outstretch a hand, enveloped in a blue flame, smiling and watching as the poor soul loses its form and dissolves into the heavens. You feel his essence rush into your body as you take on his appearance. The fool forgot to ask for a form in exchange.
It takes an action (for both parties) to both initiate and accept a deal.
The Sign of The Deal
Whether it be a hand enveloped in flame, a signature on a paper, or a token representing the agreement, your Dealmaker will have some sign that they are initiating a deal. This can be anything, within reason, of course, but it always has to involve consent between both parties.
The Terms
You can take anything imaginable, but there is only so much you can handle.
You may take on a number of additional physical forms (Minimum of 1) equal to your wisdom modifier. You may switch with a bonus action. You also start with one physical form of your choosing.
You may take on a number of physical traits equal to your wisdom modifier + 2 with a minimum of 2. These are purely for appearance and do not change your ability scores, health, speed, or anything else. You may "equip" a trait with a bonus action
You may take 2 x your wisdom modifier ability score points (Minimum of 5). No score can ever go over 20.
You may take a number of class or race features (Minimum of 2) equal to your wisdom modifier.
Whatever you can take, you can give too.
Deals don't have to just give and take, but they could also be an obligation for either side. As a few examples, "In exchange for the power of flight, you will be under my command forever" or " If I promise to serve you, then you will give me your child."
As for anything not mentioned here, there is no limit on it. But beware DMs, I have most likely forgotten something, so be sure to add your own limitations.
Languages
You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. More languages may be acquired through deals.
