Homebrew Cactin Species Details
Most populations centered in wide open deserts, the Cactin, sometimes called spinefolk, evoke fear, confusion, and wonder, to most traveling adventurers, and traders.
In their tribal camps, they are simple folk mostly plant weavers and traders with the passing adventurers. But in cities and human towns, they are trouble makers smashing things as they please and picking fights with anyone with a temper, not really understanding the way of common folk life.
Is that a Cactus in a Cave?
From afar, cactin look much like regular cacti. Only when you come close to them is it revealed that they walk and talk in a humanoid manor. Standing upright, Cactin have a max height of 7 feet tall, and they have long, thick appendages that end in stumps.
Thorns cover their bodies. The length of their thorns typically denotes membership in a tribe. When cactin bloom their flowers are colored, with petals of blue, green, or purple, red, yellow, or orange. These flowers usually bloom in all parts on their body that can receive sunlight.
Desert Guardians
Nowhere are the cactin more comfortable than in deserts. They'll can spend most of their lives in deserts with some joining adventuring parties or going off on their own. In battle, they prove cumbersome, yet heavy hitters, not being able to use weapons but some can be adorned with gauntlets of varying size, shape, and spikiness.
Once a cactin reaches an old enough age, (200 years of age, players cannot start at this age but can start near this age.) they'll have a innate instinct to return to the desert that they once called home, where they release hundreds of spores that will one day grow into offspring to join a tribe. (Yes that means they have no reproduction organs) After they have released their spores they slowly turn to stone as their life has come to an end.
Cactin Mannerisms
Cactin grow nonstop growing an inch every year. Their blooming season are generally during the spring seasons, during this time they look elegant growing flowers everywhere the sun shines. Their Flowers grant them boosted CHA modifiers +1 for each flower on their body. Their thorns usually stop growing after a cactin reaches the age of 100. (Roll d4 to find thorn length in inches)
Cactin generally keep to themselves, only talking in one language consisting of sylvan. Very rarely will a cactin actually understand common or any other language.
Each cactin tribe owns their own plot of land never going to battle with another tribe, most seeing cactin vs cactin battle to be an act of Silulon Fenlers, or to battle kings in sylvan, a right of all cactin to challenge the tribe leader for the position of leader. These fights may only last a day, and end when the opponent is beaten into submission. Fighters may not be given aid by outside help and can use gauntlets.
Homelands
As stated before separate tribes exist from desert to desert each desert consisting of 1 or 2 tribes but never anymore than that.
Enemies and Allies
Cactin vary rarely will attract enemies as they are calm and collected people only thrown into a fury when something they love is hurt. Cactin generally attempt to stay away from fire elementals, tieflings or demons as they usually carry some sort of fire with them which is an obvious weakness.

Posted May 1, 2018It seems like Flowering Bloom just adds arbitrary numbers to Charisma ability checks (or maybe also Charisma saves? Spell attacks?), counting the number of flowers to get a bonus isn't a good idea. Is this intended to just increase the Cactin's Charisma score by 1?
A maximum height of 7 feet is on the upper end of medium size, why are they huge? Why the randomness on the damage of thorns? It seems like you could simplify much of this and end up with a fairly playable race. Please revise and resubmit.
