Homebrew Dracorc Species Details

I can't tell what's funnier: that she's living proof that pigs can fly or the fact that her mother slept with a dragon. Ha! Don't tell her I said that if you meet her, though. I once saw her turn a man into a burnt pile of bones with that breath of hers--and I'm not talking about her dragon side! Ha!... I should really stop making jokes before she finds me and rips out my throat with her claws or puts me in a magical coma for the rest of my life. She's as skilled with her sorcery as she is with a blade, and I want to say she took after her father when it comes to knowing exactly where people are, even in silent darkness, so I doubt I'd be very good at hiding from her.

When the battles between orcs and dragons turn into something... different than expected... dracorcs are born. With innate magical abilities from their draconic ancestry and their surplus of physical strength from their orc ancestry, dracorcs are known to quickly carve their way through life in one way or another, with a wide range of combat styles and a heightened sense of self-reliance (and self-importance) to boot.

Scales of a Dragon, Smile of an Orc

Dragonorcs share many physical features with both their dragon and orc parents. The most notable features include the legs, tail, wings, horns, claws, and scales of their dragon parent alongside the head, torso, and arms of their orc parent. The skin tone of dragonorcs vary, taking the shade of either their scales or their orc parent's skin, though their scales are almost always the same color as their dragon parent's. They boast a well-toned physique and are taller than their orc parent, standing close to 6½ feet tall and weighing 300 pounds or more.

Apex Being

Dracorcs prefer to have (and in many cases, require) superiority over anyone else they come across, including their peers. This preference typically leads to a very isolated life upon entering adulthood. Dracorcs have been noted to often challenge those that are in positions of power to prove both their physical strength and wits, and to humiliate those that refuse to acknowledge their superiority through actions ranging from leaving them with scars or forcing them to do humiliating things to blinding or dismemberment.

Dracorc Names

Dracorcs are typically raised by their orc parent, and thus carry an orc name. Those that are left with their dragon parent are always either killed or grow to become feral adults.

Breath Weapon

You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you can’t use it again until you complete a short or long rest.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Orc, and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants. Orc is a harsh, grating language with hard consonants. It has no script of its own but is written in the Dwarvish script.

Damage Resistance

You have resistance to the damage type associated with your draconic ancestry.
