Homebrew Al'Wan Species Details

The elements are a common belief throughout the world. But it turns out the elements are manifested into beings. These are the Al'wani people, or elementals.

Al'wani are agendered until they turn the age of around ten to thirteen, where they undergo "the change" and their gender changes. Female al'wani are extremely rare, and haven't appeared in over two hundred years.

Due to this, mature al'wani must interbreed with humans to survive.

 

Users of the Elements

Al'wani, or elementals, have a specific element at birth. When the change happens, they either keep that element or are able to use all the elements if they are female. Female elementals choose the element they want to be for the rest of their life at twenty. These elements are:

• Light
• Earth
• Wind
• Water
• Fire

In legend, there is a rumoured sixth element; shadow. It is unknown whether it exists, as records of it are very old and questionable. Shadow elementals, if they were to exist, utilise the magic in darkness to bring sorrow. They use darkness, and can summon solid shadow and form it into terrifying shapes, like monsters. They crave violence and are commonly murderers.

Light elementals are healers. They use the power of light to bring beauty to others, and life. They heal wounds and revive plants.

Earth elementals can control and summon plants. It can be used for a variety of daily tasks; and these elementals are excellent farmers.

Wind elementals control the air and wind. They are the only elemental known to be able to fly.

Water elementals can control water. They can create powerful storms and waves, and are excellent swimmers.

Fire elementals can generate immense heat. It expels into flame, which they can control the temperature of.

 

Female Treasure

For two hundred years, elementals have not had a female.

However, a long time ago, when an elemental goes through the change and becomes a female, she loses her respective element and is able to control every element. It is said this is true for females to be able to choose their mate more easily.

At the age of twenty, females are given the choice of elements. They will decide on that day which element they want to be forever. Typically, a ceremony is held, sometimes with weddings shortly after.

The Goddess

Al'Wani believe in "The Goddess," a divine being who is a guiding figure.

 

Al'Wani Names

Al'Wani are usually named after the element they are born with. These names can be something related to the element, such as Luna for water and Hellebore for earth.

The change is when al'wani are given a gender.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice.

Age

Al’Wani mature at the same rate as humans, though different in sexual maturity. They can live up to one hundred.

Alignment

Due to their strong culture influenced by The Goddess, Al’Wani tend more toward the lawful side. Shadow Al'wani tend to be Evil, while all the other elements tend to be Neutral.

Size

Just like humans, Al’Wani stand five to six feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Ability Score Increase

Your Wisdom score increases by 2.
