Homebrew Canid Species Details

Canids originate in the Feywild, though have since spread across Aurelia and all other corners of the world. They have adapted, like many other races with Sylvan ancestry, to the predominant cultures with which they integrate themselves. Though they have strong tell-tale canine features-- elongated snout with sharp teeth, large triangular ears, and fur-covered body-- their size, shape, and markings vary wildly.

These bipedal adventurers make excellent companions, as many Canids value loyalty above all else. Their inherent magical capabilities make them deft spellcasters, and their canine features make for steadfast warriors.

Canid Traits

Your canid character has the following traits.

Ability Score Increase

You are exceptionally strong and your fey lineage gifts you with inherent magical ability. Your Strength increases by two, and choose one score to increase by one: Wisdom, Charisma, or Intelligence.

Age

Young Canids grow quickly. They can walk days after being born, and reach adulthood at 15. They live to be around 80.

Size

Canids are generally smaller than most humans, typically between 4 and 5 feet tall and averaging 150 pounds.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Sharp Teeth

Your fierce Canid teeth make for excellent weapons. When you bite a creature, the unarmed strike does 1d6 + your Strength modifier piercing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Canine Senses

You have exceptional canine senses. You have advantage on Wisdom (perception) checks.

Sylvan Heritage

Your Sylvan heritage grants you a resistance to magic. You have advantage on Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against magic.

Fey Magic

Canid connection to the Feywild grants them the inherent ability to cast minor spells. You know one druid cantrip of your choice.
