Homebrew Blessed Species Details

Under cities that were long thought to have been destroyed, emerged the Blessed. The mysterious race does not often mice words with others, choosing to rely on the power of actions. They seek exploration, and to help the lesser races realize that their religions are heresy, and the Blessed are where their worship should be given. Pale from years of living underground, their bodies resemble marvel, being almost transparent. They are stunningly beautiful, with their bodies physically perfected. The ascendance of their race rest on all their shoulders, values and an appearance that they must forever show. Their path is a hard one, where emotion, joy and rest, have all been burned out of them.

Predatory Ancestry

Blessed are not the holy and logical shepherds to the other races that they wish to appear as. They are under powerful illusion magic that is up at all times, that makes them appear incredibly attractive and as the deity they present themselves as. They are actually more predatory in nature, instincts that they have painfully trained away. They can not hold these instincts back when their lives are threatened.

A horrible animal like version of what they are emerges when they are on the verge of dying. Long sharp fangs, rippling muscles with blackened veins, and gnarled hands make them a formidable image.

 

Ascendance

The other races are not enemies, but more so children to be guided. They must display regality and respect for others, but it can be hard to show mercy. Menial tasks are considered beneath them, just as negotiations are. Blessed forge their way on their own merits and strength, leading others with actions. A Blessed who becomes weak, or in need of others is no longer fit for survival in their minds.

Blessed do not understand the relationship between peasants and nobles because in their eyes, all mortal are equal. They are the only higher being.

Becoming Blessed

Their lives and childhoods before adulthood are highly competitive, with barely an surviving to take up the mantle as Blessed. They learn the true burden of being a god on earth, building a disconnect with the other races. They are guardians, shepherds, parents, but not friends to others.

To become Blessed, they have given up material possessions, family, and now seek only ascendance. A part of that is appearing godly at all times.

Ascendance is all that matters to a Blessed. The path to godhood lies with two levels of power, external/ internal. Power of others as a ruler, and power of oneself in strength.

Blessed Traits

Blessed share a number of traits in common with each other.

Ability Score Increase

Your Strength score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 2.

Age

Blessed say that they are immortal, their lifespans are believed to be about 200 years. Their training to become Blessed ends after 30 years.

Alignment

Blessed tend towards lawful, making strong decisions.

Size

Goliaths are between 7 and 8 feet tall and weigh between 280 and 340 pounds. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Future God

You have proficiency in the Athletics and Deception skill.

True Form

The illusion fades, revealing the predator form that the Blessed hide. You now have 5 HP and can no longer use weapons, items or spells. On your turns you attack the closest creature. You have two slashing attacks  add STR+ proficiency to ATK roll, STR modifier+d6 for damage. After you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.

Powerful Build

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push, drag, or lift.

From the depths

You can see in low light for up to 60 feet.

You can speak, read, and write Common and Celestial.
