Homebrew Draeling Species Details
Aideron awoke before the rest of his fellow party members, and decided to go to the nearby stream to wash up. Before he could get there, however, he found himself face-to-face with a large wild boar. The boar looked at him with it's furious eyes and Aideron knew that the boar was out for blood; his blood, to be precise. Before the boar could charge at him with its bloodied tusks, Aideron rushed at the boar, grabbing its ears as he ran past. His sheer strength was enough to throw the boar into the nearest tree, where the force of hitting the hard wood with such strength was enough to break its spine. After he took a swim in the stream, he dragged the boar back to the party’s camp, where he began to cook the meat over the fire. The other party members awoke to the wondrous smell of cooked meat, and ate their first real meal in two weeks. That day, the party learned a valuable lesson; you don’t want to face a grown Draeling alone, whether they are carrying a weapon or not.

Not unlike their tiefling cousins, Draelings are strong demonborn that are much stronger than your average tiefling. Resembling the appearance of both orcs and tieflings, Draeling skin tones vary from black to gray to dark crimson red. Horns jut out of their forehead, and the eyes of a Dreadling are either black, red or white. Some variation does occur, however, so that some Draelings have brown or even blue eyes. Although there are some similarities, Draelings are a race of their own, and live a lifestyle different from that of their tiefling cousins.
Strong, Fast, and Tough
Most Draelings are strong, being able to lift over twice the weight a regular human could. Although most don’t work on their strength, their muscles are naturally toned to be stronger than most other creatures their size. Despite their stature, Draelings are fast. Most have fast reflexes, which allow them to catch game and fight off other creatures faster than most other humanoids. This also makes them perfect at being stealthy. Draelings are also tougher than most creatures, having to live in the harsh Underdark. Their skin resembles dried leather, and is hardened to withstand harsh conditions.
City Slums and Nature
Most Draelings aren’t aristocratic, and choose to live in poorer parts of cities to avoid drawing attention to themselves. If they aren’t living in cities, Draelings prefer to be with their own kind, and are fairly untrusting of other races. Being reserved, Draelings take to small jobs, such as smithing or stealing, where they can be hidden behind their craft and not be judged.
However, Draelings have an inexplicable calling to nature and adventuring, and will jump at the opportunity for excitement and the chance to get out of the cities. They trust those that they travel with, but are always wary, and somewhat detach themselves from party members so that they don’t get hurt. Sometimes, Draelings will adventure on their own, relying on their strength and speed to get the job done.
Outcasts
Draelings, having dealt with prejudice and violence their entire lives, are no strangers to grudges. Draelings aren’t quick to trust, and will judge people before they know much about them. Although they aren’t hurt by insults, Draelings do care how they are seen by others. They will do anything to fit in with the others in their party, especially if they feel like outcasts of the group.
