Homebrew Dinaurian Species Details
They came from Strange Metal Ships, and were oddskined, Reptilian, Intelligent and Strangely Attractive, They walked with us and spoke with a strange hissing accent. Friendly they were not... at first. They were able to transform into odd and Strange dinousaurs with different abilities and elemental attunments. We enganged into conflict with them for a while only for peace to be made when a young hero discovered that they were refugees from another land. We came to an Agreement, that they shall live on land far from ours and that there shall be peace. they were odd and they called themselves Dinaurians.
— Dr. Hobbs Diggins, The Wandering Scholar
Strange Dinosaur like people from a land long since destroyed, they came to our world in search of a new home and relief from an atrocious evil. They are violent or cruel for the most part, but they want to live lives worth talking about. They are adventure seekers at heart and are driven to explore and entertain themselves and those they care about. But should you get between a Dinaurian and something they care about, they are incredibly dangerous and fierce to protect.
They Dinosaur from inside
The Moment they Hatch, they're dinosaurian traits are plain to see. They have usually colored (as in green, blue, etc) skin tones/colors. They also have pointy ears and long reptilian tales that move with their mood and emotions (When sad tales and ears go down when angered ears are pulled back and tales sway side to side). They also have colorful markings on their face. Typically have yellow eyes with slitted pupils.
This dinosaur within is reflected by the Dinaurians Type. 4 Types are especially common:
- Large Carnivore: Based on Large Theropod Dinosaurs, they are Strong willed, Stubborn, Territorial, Fierce yet Protective.
- Medium Carnivore: Based on Medium/Small Theropod Dinosaurs, they are Quick, Intelligent, Strategic, Social, they tend to look to be very calculating when they, yet will lash out when an ally is critically wounded
- Large Herbivore: Based on Armored Dinosaurs, most Ceratopsians, and Most Sauropods, They are large, well-built being, with a calm and passive nature, that changes to a dangerous side when the ones they care for are endangered.
- Medium Herbivore: Based on smaller variants of the above and Euornithopods, they are incredibly social and are very skittish, but can put up a fight when they need to.
While the Dinosaur within certainly has a physical impact on a Dinaurian, it has a spiritual and psychological effect. Two Dinaurian share the same type, but if one has the aspect of a Large Carnivore and the other is a Medium Carnivore, they’ll be quite different in personality. With any Dinaurian, identifying the Dinosaur within is a crucial part of understanding the character.
Similar and Diverse
Dinaurians are similar to humans in height and build but are more naturally Athletic and flexible. Their facial features have a Reptilian cast, with Yellow eyes, Pointy ears; most Dinaurians also have prominent canine teeth. They have long reptilian tales.
The traits of the Dinosaur affect a Dinaurian's appearance as well. A Medium Carnivore may have Slitted eyes and delicate build, while a Large Carnivore might be a massive brute built like a Tyrannosaurus. While a Dinaurian’s appearance might remind an onlooker of Lizardfolk, they remain clearly identifiable as Dinaurian even when at their most feral.
The Journey that came
Originating from land now gone and forgotten, they seek out to be members of society and to survive at all costs, as their ancestors did before them. They Deeply care for their friends and Family and will fight till nothing is left and all are gone or dead.
Dinaurians have a natural inclination toward classes with a primal connection. A Dinaurian barbarian draws their rage from the beast within. A Dinaurian ranger indulges their urge to wander and hunt. A Dinaurian rogue harnesses their own predatory instincts. But Dinaurians can pursue any path or faith.
