Homebrew Aquatic Dragonborn Species Details

Water Dwellers

Aquatic Dragonborn are very closely related to other species of Dragonborn, and have very large tails, small scales, a lack of eyes, and can breath underwater. They have evolved these traits over a long time since their evolution, and these traits allow them to live in the water easily. They have also evolved other interesting characteristics such as frills, fins, and other traits, but for the most part these traits don't come up. For the most part they have a scale color related to where they live, how deep they live, and their draconic ancestry. Their draconic ancestry is for the most part limited to teal dragons, turquoise dragons, and blue dragons due to their habitat, however other ancestry is possible although very rare. Their diet mostly consists of fish or sea-plants, but they are also capable of eating a human diet.

Prideful Clans

Aquatic Dragonborn Clans are extremely similar to other dragonborn clans in the way that they are very clan centered and will happily lay down their lives for their clan and family, however aquatic dragonborn clans are more family-like due to the fact that they create very close bonds with each other, sometimes even merging with other clans to make it easier for survival. They still have their own roles within the clan although it is more similar to the role each fish has in its school.

Charismatic People

Due to the fact that aquatic dragonborn lack eyes, they have naturally become more charismatic; this helps them to see better with their echolocation since they are very talkative. They tend to be almost equivalent to succubi due to their natural attractiveness and way with words, even though they lack the murderous intent and the agression. They also tend to be very clingy or loyal often finding someone they like and sticking with them for an extremely long time, not to be confused with loyalty in relationships.

Names

Aquatic Dragonborn don't necessarily have an organized name system, but Aquatic dragonborn have their own language within the draconic language which means they may have names derived from their draconic ancestry. Some names are much more heritage related while others may be more centered around appearance or whatever the family wants for the child.

Breath Weapon

You can use your action to exhale destructive energy. Your draconic ancestry determines the size, shape, and damage type of the exhalation. When you use your breath weapon, each creature in the area of the exhalation must make a saving throw, the type of which is determined by your draconic ancestry. The DC for this saving throw equals 8 + your Constitution modifier + your proficiency bonus. A creature takes 2d6 damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The damage increases to 3d6 at 6th level, 4d6 at 11th level, and 5d6 at 16th level. After you use your breath weapon, you can’t use it again until you complete a short or long rest.

Damage Resistance

You have resistance to the damage type associated with your draconic ancestry.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Draconic. Draconic is thought to be one of the oldest languages and is often used in the study of magic. The language sounds harsh to most other creatures and includes numerous hard consonants and sibilants.

Blindness

Aquatic Dragonborn intrinsically have no eyes, and that being true, they instead use echolocation.
