Homebrew Ashborn Species Details
An Ashborn is a person that has grown up on the isle of Emberbreach. Living on a volcanically active island, with a thick smog to breathe and few fauna to eat takes its toll on a race, but the Ashborn have slowly developed to counter such a climate.
Living on an island with no animals to eat will usually turn a race extinct, but the volcano that has disadvantaged your people has brought about gifts in other ways. The soil around the volcano is highly fertile, and has let to the Ashborn leading largely on plant-based foods, to the point where they almost exclusively live as herbivores

Nimble Body
The low body mass of an Ashborn allows them to move quickly compared to other races. Ashborn have a 40ft movement speed, and a climbing speed equal to their movement speed. However, any cold water is harsh on an Ashborn's body. Every time an Ashborn starts its turn in cold water, it must make a DC 16 Constitution Save. On a failure, the Ashborn takes 1d12 cold damage.

Age
Ashborn mature at about the same rate as humans and reach adulthood in their late teens. They live somewhat longer than humans do, up to 120 years.

Independent and self-reliant, Ashborn tend toward a neutral or lawful alignment.

Ashborn are generally built like humans, standing anywhere from 5 feet to over 6 feet tall, but their plant-based diet and lack of hunting prowess leaves them with low muscle mass and slender figures. Your size is Medium.
