Homebrew Brachyoid Species Details

Evolution has an interesting sense of humour.

The dwarves, for instance, developed from the Progenitors into shorter-limbed, shorter-lived beings in order to cope with the limited space of the mountain mining colonies, while the elves over-time became more in tune with the forests and the Feywild – all influenced by their environments into adapting into their next stage of life.
Brachyoids, however, evolved in answer to the growing issue of hyper-intelligent humanoids overfishing and wiping out a disproportionate amount of aquatic life. Though their minds are
relatively limited, they more than make up for it in their strength and endurance – their huge claws are prehensile, allowing them to control the movement of weapons and other intricate items, though they do have trouble with some smaller pieces that require heightened dexterity.

What’s more, the Brachyoids have even evolved two distinctive evolutionary paths; divided into Royal Brachyoids, who have developed huge claws and a tough, natural outer shell for the harsh combative reality of their home, and Recluse Brachyoids, who use stealth, regenerative healing and the outer shells of other creatures, rather than developing their own.
