Homebrew Axolotl (No Lore) Species Details

Axolotl has been inspired by the real-life creature of the same name as well as the works and efforts of Aaron Bartling & Garrett Gunn from the Comic They Came From Beneath The Sea! Thank you very much for allowing me to use that inspiration to make this race possible!

Axolotl (No Lore) Traits

Your Axolotl character has a variety of natural abilities

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 1.

Your charisma score increases by 2.

Age

Although Axolotl reaches physical maturity at about the age of 15 retain their child-like appearance till close to the end of their life span beginning to fade from vibrant colors to pale shades about 850-900 then a very pale white around 1000 few live past 1500.

Size

Axolotl typically range from under 3 to over 5 feet tall, Your size is Small or Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet. You also have a 40 feet swim speed (anything that increases your movement will also increase your swim speed)

Darkvision

Accustomed to murky depths and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Fish Friends

Your life as a Axolotl has allowed you to understand the creatures of the ocean. You can speak with aquatic animals as if you had cast the speak with animals spell.

Born From the Deep

Adapted to even the most extreme ocean depths, you have resistance to cold and force damage, and you ignore any of the drawbacks caused by a deep, underwater environment.

Amphibious

You can breathe air or water through feather-like gills on the side of your head.

Healing

Axolotl has an amazing ability to regrow lost limbs and heal wounds. While taking a long rest an Axolotl can repair severed body members (fingers, legs, tails, and so on), if any, are restored after the rest is finished. If you have the severed part you can hold it to the stump, the limb will begging to knit to the stump mending fully on a short rest.

 

Once per short rest, you can cast cure wounds as a 1st level spell, targeting yourself

You can speak, read, and write Common and aquatic.
