Homebrew Blibbish Species Details
Bekkinib was his name, and he stood up to merely my thigh. I was shocked at his strange, mole-like face and claws, and even more so when he spoke to me in the common tongue. His manner was crude and boorish, but he turned out to have a sharp wit.
Creatures of Earth and Clay
A Blibbish, or Dirtfellow as they are called by others, makes their home in a warren underground. While Blibbish can be found in many places, they seldom mix with those on the surface. They are solitary creatures, but their homes are all connected through a mess of winding tunnels. Blibbish are raised from youth to memorize the route to their warren, and have a keen sense of direction. Blibbish rarely carry rations, for they can simply find food in the earth around them, eating insects and worms. While their diets way make them stand out in "Polite" society, they are very practical for going on long journeys. Blibbish seldom interact with others in their natural habitat, so they seldom wear clothes. When forced to, however, they will simply adopt the fashions of those around them.
A Greedy Drive
The Dirtfolk love gold. Almost every Blibbish would go great lengths to get their hands on some, but never spend it. They love how it shines, and spend hours admiring its glittering surface. They think that spending your gold is silly, for then you don't have it anymore. They keep their gold in a room called a gold-hoard, and steal from others often. Blibbish communities seldom have laws or authority, so theft is a common money-making technique. Because of this, some have trouble adjusting to the surface world, with laws and regulations, and some never adjust.
Keen Wits
Blibbish are naturally not confrontational, and prefer burrowing into their target's gold-hoard and then closing their tunnels behind them. While they often come of as uncouth and crass, Dirtfolk are quite intelligent. While their hands are made for tunnelling, and thus are large and clumsy, the rest of their body is quick and agile.
Blibbish Names
For Dirtfolk, names are of little importance. they will usually only be used by their parents when they are young, and they often leave their burrows at an early age. The Blibbish language, called Bligyblat, is composed of many "b" sounds and hard consonants. Interestingly, thay have no "s" or "sh" sounds.
