Homebrew Arachnoid - Underdark Species Details
You are an Arachnoid. Arachnoids are eight-limbed humanoids. They originate from the underdark, but have since spread and adapted to many environments, leading to many varients. In previous times they worshiped Lolth and were part of Drow society, often acting as chief priests or oracles of this deity. They are, however, more different from the drow than you would think.
Arachnoid - Underdark Traits
As an Underdark Arachnoid, you gain the following.Ability Score Increase
You are very agile and capable of adapting to many different habitats. You gain a +2 to dexterity and a +1 to constitution.
Age
Although Arachnoids reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, they share the elven understanding of adulthood going beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. They typically claim adulthood around the age of 100 and can live to be 800 years old.
Size
You are the size of a drow.
Speed
You have a base walking speed of 25 feet.
Blindsight 60ft
Because of generation after generation, century after century of living in the underdark, rather then developing advanced scotopic vision like the drow, these Arachnoids have lost the ability to see entirely. Instead you have tiny hairs specifically used to sense vibrations and changes in air pressure. You can perceive your surroundings without relying on sight, within 60 feet.
Climber
You gain a climbing speed equal to your walking speed. When climbing, you may still use your primary hands, and even face away from the wall which you are on. However, when you do this, you have difficult mapping your environment aside from the wall to which you are clinging.
Fey Ancestry
You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.
Trance
Like elves, arachnoids do not sleep. Instead they meditate deeply, remaining semi-conscious, for 4 hours a day. The Common word for this meditation is "trance." While meditating, you dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive after years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.
Nimble Escape
You can take the Disengage or Hide action as a bonus action on each of your turns.
Webbed Casting
