Homebrew Arachnoid Species Details
The arachnoid race is a race of half human, half tarantula monsters. Standing on average at 10-11ft tall, they are large creatures with 4 arms and 2 legs. These arms and legs all have barb-like hairs that can be used to stick to items and walls. You are size large, and have a 20ft walking speed as well as a 35ft climbing speed but only when you have at least 2 hands free. Arachnoids weigh on average 300-350 pounds and have a lifespan similar to humans.
Arachnoid Traits
Spider-likeBarb-like hairs
You have barb-like hairs on your hands and feet that grant you advantage on STR (athletics) checks to grapple creatures and hold onto items. Advantage to grapple checks only applies if at least 2 hands are free.
Thick fur
Your thickened fur grants you resistance to bludgeoning and acid damage, but vulnerability to fire damage.
Proportionate strength
You count as one size larger when determining carrying capacity and how heavy of an object you can push or pull but due to your size you have disadvantage on DEX (stealth) checks made to hide.
Web-like substance
You can produce small amounts of a web-like substance. Once per day you can create up to 50ft of rope (silk) and at level 5 you can use the web spell using your strength modifier without expending a spell slot.

Posted Sep 6, 2022Feel like I need to add a bit more so--
The Arachnoid race is primarily made up of biological males, with females being much rarer and larger with some standing at almost 14ft tall. They form very close-nit societies and only deal with outsiders on extremely rare occasions. They are very hostile when in a tribe and have been known to attack un-provoked.
The male genitalia is so complex it makes mating with other races nigh on impossible. A male will only mate with one female in its lifetime, but the females have many partners. This is because after copulation the female will often eat the male, or at least kill them and leave them as an early meal for the offspring. Due to this, many of the wandering 'lone-wolf' types will be males, and males rarely live past the age of 40.
