Homebrew Awakened Fox Species Details

When a ritual to awaken a creature goes awry, many things can happen. The least likely of the events able to occur, is a wrongful targeting of the awakening part, but a successful targeting of the charm effect. This means that a creature able to be targeted by awaken is awakened, but not charmed.

That is where the ancient bloodline of the fox comes in. Due to the crafty and sly nature of the fox, its bloodline has never really been researched. Foxes with this bloodline tend to be more intelligent, sly and tend to be leaders in a pack. This behavior seems strange to humans, as normally, foxes tend to be solitary animals. If, however, humans and other races were to find out why, they would be shocked to know that this ancient bloodline is one of the oldest, dating all the way back to even Abeir-Toril. After many years, the bloodline, however, has grown scarce.

Awakened Fox Traits

Also know as dire fox, this sub race tends to be more intelligent than the other sub races. Its direfoxes that are the reason why foxes in general are known to be crafty. When a fox with an ancient bloodline is awakened, it gains much more than when a normal fox is awakened. They become enlightened, and start their search for more. They tend to have a positive bond with the ritual leader, but more as a benefactor than an owner, or parent. This bond, however, can be easily broken, as a fox is naturally shy and does not trust someone easily.
