Homebrew Bone Devil Tiefling Species Details

Those bones protruding from it's body, limbs, tail, and chest. Is it here to devour body and souls?

     Made Up, Sourceless

 Often met with stares of disgust, curiosity, and sometimes desire. Often enslaved or collected from the streets: this is often the fate of Bone Devil Tieflings. Knowing this is simply based on ancestry or pacts struck ages before, infused with devil blood and Asmodeus, overlord of the Nine Hells. Their appearance the result of nothing more than conception, but a conception their children and their children's children must suffer for.

Variant Infernal Bloodline

Bone Devil Tieflings, although at one time from human bloodlines, are more closely related to their more recent Bone Devil ancestry.  Still appear somewhat human, in the broadest possible sense, their infernal and devilish heritages have left a clear imprint on their appearance.  Bone Devil Tieflings unlike regular Tieflings generally have smaller horns. They have thick tails, four to five feet long, more often, partially or completely lacking flesh. Their canine teeth are sharply pointed, and their eyes resembling that of a human or devil. Their skin often have bone plates or protrusions and skin tone, a variety of colors. Their hair often similar to that of a human's or sometimes more colorful variations.

Bone Devil Tieflings are far and few between and thus are often collected or feared. Generally isolate themselves or live amongst other Tieflings, rarely seen living amongst other races for fear of being enslaved or murdered.

Mostly born in the Nine Hells, occasionally landed themselves in other realms. They aren't known to be quickly trusting of "friends" but become loyal once the trust is finally earned.

Bone Devil Tiefling names generally fall into three catagories. One, they reflect where they were born and raised. Two, some infernal meaning, or generational name. Three, some eager adventurous types, generally younger generations, will adopt a name to achieve glory or status.

"Virtue" Names: Lust, Atonement, Timeless, Journey

Never Truly Trusted

Ignorance often leads to Bone Devil Tieflings not being trusted, thinking their ancestry has stripped them of their morals. Reality, who conceived them doesn't dictate their behavior but how they were raised. Their infernal magics are a part of them but doesn't guide their paths.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution score increases by 1, and your Charisma score increases by 2.

Age

Bone Devil Tieflings mature at the same rate as humans but live a few years longer.

Size

Bone Devil Tieflings are about the same size and build as humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision

Thanks to your infernal heritage, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Devilish Resistance

Due to enhanced bone density from your Bone Devil ancestry, you have resistance to piercing and fire damage.

Devil Kinship

You know the true strike cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the inflict wounds spell as a 2nd-level spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast the blur spell once with this trait and regain the ability to do so when you finish a long rest. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Dagger Tipped Tail

The Bone Devil Tiefling swiftly makes a melee attack with their tail tip, on hit does 1d4 piercing damage. Their tail considered a finesse weapon. When making an attack with a finesse weapon, you use your choice of your Strength or Dexterity modifier for the attack and damage rolls.
