Homebrew Cenoura Species Details

Whether they are proud, strong-willed, strategic, or skittish, the cenoura will always find themselves looking for adventure—or, at least, something to entertain themselves with. While cenoura may hail from the Feywild and a myriad of realms, that tale is as old as time.

Now, each pack of cenoura or each independent cenoura have their own story of origin. They can either be found by themselves, traveling the world to tend to their insatiable curiosity, or they may have settled into their own groups, whether they be large or small. These groups can be highly individualistic, and not all cenoura will get along with the next cenoura you see. However, these differences are not always due in part to their species, it may be clan-related or even one cenoura's personal grudge.

Cenoura have the upper bodies, down to the waist, of muscular humans or elves, displaying all the varieties of skin tones and features that either race have. Below the humanoid waist, they have the bodies of felines with a variety of patterns of any species of cat. This can range from house cat to lion, and similarly their size can very from small to medium, which is not always dependent on their race's species.

Creating Your Character

Ability Score Increases

When determining your character’s ability scores, increase one score by 2 and increase a different score by 1, or increase three different scores by 1. Follow this rule regardless of the method you use to determine the scores, such as rolling or point buy. The “Quick Build” section for your character’s class offers suggestions on which scores to increase. You can follow those suggestions or ignore them, but you can’t raise any of your scores above 20.

Community or Individualist

Cenoura can be those of community or those of solitary tradition, roamers who do not conform to a group lifestyle. Not all cenoura will feel kin to another, especially if they are of differing species. Some clans may be made up of multiple species of cenoura, though it's more typical for them to be a pack of one species, such as tigers or lions with similar hierarchies and behaviors to their animal counterparts, with differences stemming from religion or personal practices.

Survivor

You have proficiency in one of the following skills of your choice: Animal Handling, Medicine, Nature, or Survival.

Languages

Your character can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. The Player’s Handbook offers a list of languages to choose from. The DM is free to modify that list for a campaign.

Cenoura Traits

Creature Type

You are a Fey.

Age

Cenoura mature and age at about the same rate as humans.

Size

You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you select this race.

Speed

Your walking speed is 35 feet, and you have a climbing speed slightly below your walking speed at 30 feet.

Cat’s Claws

You can use your claws to make unarmed strikes, though it is difficult to position in most cases. When you hit with them, the strike deals 1d4 + your Strength modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.

Feline Build

You count as one size larger when determining your carrying capacity and the weight you can push or drag.

In addition, any climb that requires hands and feet is somewhat easier for you because of your feline legs. When you make such a climb, you have a climbing speed slightly lower than your walking speed.

Feline Agility

Your reflexes and agility allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your turn in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the turn. Once you use this trait, you can’t use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
