Homebrew Carnifex Species Details

The Canivex are a demi-human variant with canine/wolf like appendages and senses. They tend to travel in pack like clans, and will often either take up a nomadic lifestyle, or claim an area as their territory, defending it virtuously. In comparison to other demi-humans, the Canivex have especially bushy pelts that come in many shades of grey and brown. This mostly includes their tails and scalp, but is relevant across their whole body. Many believe this helps them live comfortably in the cold and wet climates that they so commonly settle in. Its common knowledge that they don’t get along very well with the Nekos, however the Nekos themselves couldn't be bothered by the Canivexs any more than any other race out there. 

Age

Much similar to a human, Canivex reach adulthood in their late teens and live less than a century years old. Both males and females mature around the age of 19 and once they do, they are expected to start looking after the younger members of the tribe, as well as search for a suitable mate. Although, its not difficult the persuade them to do the latter, the sudden responsibility of looking after multiple young can be rather stressful. If a Canivex fails in both responsibility's early on into adulthood, its not uncommon for them to become a “Lone Wolf”.

Alignment

While Canivex can be of any alignment, they naturally lean towards lawful due to their close bond with their pack. However this can change in an instant if one were to allow their primal blood lust to escape during the heat of the moment. Turning towards the aggressive aspects of their alignment during combat, an argument, or while hunting for food.

Canivex tend to be anywhere from 5’1” to 6’5” in height. Your size is medium.

Darkvision

Thanks to your Canine blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

You gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell

Pack Mentality

When 3 or more mutual allies are within a 30 ft radius of the Canivex and they are not incapacitated, they all receive +1 to their saving throws.

Pack Mentality (Variant)

When 3 or more mutual allies are within a 15ft radius of the Canivex and they are not incapacitated, they all receive +1 to their attack and damage rolls. This effect can stack up to four times.

Carnifex Traits

Darkvision, Keen sense, Keen hearing/small, Pack mentality, Your Charisma score increases by 1 and either your Constitution, Strength, or Dexterity score increases by 2

Can see up to 60ft in the dark

Shifting

You can shift into your wolf form during your turn. It takes up your action phase. Your physical stats will be that of a wolf, mental will stay the same. If knocked unconscious you will revert back to humanoid form. Silver is treated as poison damage.

Pack mentality

As long as you have 3 or more party members in a 30ft radius all members receive plus 1 on all saving throws.

Wolf trait

You gain proficiency on all perception  checks involving hearing and smell also gain advantage on those checks as well.
