Homebrew Cervidae Species Details

Deer people of the Feywild. WIP

Cervidae Traits

The Cervidae share certain traits due to their physical characteristics and their link to the Fey.

Ability Score Increase

Your Dexterity score increases by 1. Increase any ability score other than Dexterity by two, or increase two different ability scores by 1, one of which can be Dexterity.

Age

Cervidae age somewhat faster than humans, reaching adulthood at around 8 years and living to at most 60 years.

Size

Cervidae can vary in size from just under 4 feet tall to over 6 feet. They often have a more slender or athletic build than average humans. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Creature Type

Your creature type is both Fey and Humanoid.

Darkvision

You are accustomed to living in dim forests and watching for predators, giving you superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Feywild Heritage

You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Flighty Escape

When you are targeted by a melee attack, melee spell attack, or a spell with a range of Touch originating from an enemy creature, you can use your reaction to immediately move up to half your movement range (rounded up to the nearest 5 feet) without triggering opportunity attacks. If you escape the attack or spell's range, the attack misses or the spell does not affect you. You can use this trait only if your speed is greater than 0. You can use it a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Antlers

Your antlers are natural melee weapons, which you can use to make one of your unarmed attacks per turn. If you hit with them, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. You can also headbutt your target with your antlers when you make a Shove attack, dealing 1d4 + your Strength modifier piercing damage if you win the contested check in addition to Shove's normal effects.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Sylvan.
