Homebrew Cait-Sith Species Details

The Cait-Sith are a race of feline humanoids that are infamous for their wit and agility. They make great thieves and acrobats due to their feline heritage allowing them to be quick and light on their feet, but also make fearsome and agile warriors in their own right. They have an inborn magic allowing them to shift into domestic cats and are able to see through illusions with greater ease than most, but due to this they are unable to wield other magics. Due to their shifting ability, they are rarely seen by outsiders in their true form as they often wander human settlements as cats to learn of events outside their forest homes. They are human-like in appearance the differences being their bright slit eyes and their feline ears and tails. Their hair and fur vary greatly in color and pattern, though they are often brightly colored.

Cait-Sith Traits

Cait-Sith are both nimble and cautious to the world around them, allowing them an advantage over the more common races in terms of speed and wit.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Feline Senses

You can detect some objects or creatures within 15 feet by sense of smell and sound. If what you are detecting is upwind, the range increases to 25 feet; if downwind, it drops to 5 feet. Stronger scents and sounds can be detected from greater distances at the DM’s discretion. When you detect an opponent, their exact location is not revealed—only their presence.

Your feline instincts and senses allow you to perceive the world differently letting you spot illusions much easier (+2 to saving throws vs Illusions)

Feline Agility

The Cait Sith are an extremely agile race known for both their acrobatic skills and ability to remain hidden. They gain proficiency in the Stealth and Acrobatics skills.

Cat Form

Your inborn magic allows you to change shape into a domestic cat. You can transform for up to a total of 2 hours a day into the form a domestic cat. You may shape change at will and the transformation take 1 round to complete. Your clothes will transform with you. When you reach the 2 hour time limit, your transformation will be forcibly reversed.
