Homebrew Dark Kalashtar Species Details
Native to Eberron, the Kalashtar are a people formed by the bond between their ancestors and the renegade quori spirits that fled the dream realm of Dal Quor and the evil spirits that sought to dominate and overpower them. Empowered and guided by their ancestor spirit, Kalashtar possess unique psychic abilities that allow them to communicate telepathically and protect them from psychic damage. Though the Kalashtar sleep just like everyone else, they are disconnected from the plane of dreams, and therefore cannot dream -- even if an outside force attempts to use magic to make them dream
Kalashtar tend to lean toward good alignments, seeking to better existence and the world around them through meditative acts and devotions known as the Path of Light. They may not be able to communicate with the spirits that coincide within, but they understand the necessity of challenging to dark spirits of Dal Quor in hopes of shifting the balance from darkness and evil to goodness and light. Those dark spirits continue to oppose and attempt to exterminate Kalashtar using a force called the Dreaming Dark, however there are Kalashtar who seek out these denizens of darkness in hopes of thwarting their efforts but with Dark Kalashtar they don't lead good alignments since they were made to hunt and kill the kalashtar, and quori that escape the Darkness control. Because of the Kalashtar connection to the quori, they have powerful mental abilities, including a +2 boost to Wisdom and +1 Charisma. In addition to that WIS boost, they also possess a trait known as Dual Mind, which gives them advantage on WIS saving throws. Their affinity with WIS paves the way to creating disciplined Monks, Druids, Rangers, and Clerics, who all rely on WIS as their core stat. Additionally, the CHA boost would work well for Warlocks, who gain their power from an otherworldly patron and rely on CHA to work their magic.
Kalashtar are also resistant to psychic damage, the effort of their spirits to protect them from the Dreaming Dark. Because they are severed from the plane of dreams, they are immune to magical effects and spells that require dreaming.
One of the Kalashtar's most exciting abilities is their Mind Link trait. Mind Link allows them to connect their mind to any creature they can see, so long as the creature is within a range equal to ten times their level and can understand at least one language. It is not required for the Kalashtar and their target to share a language in order for them to communicate. They can maintain this form of communication for up to one hour, or until they drop the effect, and they can only share this telepathic bond with one individual at a time.

When you’re using this trait to speak telepathically to a creature, you can use your action to give that creature the ability to speak telepathically with you for 1 hour or until you end this effect as an action. To use this ability, the creature must be able to see you and must be within this trait’s range.
You can give this ability to only one creature at a time; giving it to a creature takes it away from another creature who has it. And every time it's the creature turn; they have to make a saving throw to start their turn or lose their turn.
