Homebrew Bug-person Species Details

Bug-people were once humans. They lived on a land with incredibly magical plants which were also incredibly dangerous. Overtime the surviving humans needed to make adaptations in order to survive such a hostile environment and adapted to mimic traits of the few creatures which were able to call this place home. Now the humans have changed. Their skin has hardened and is rough like stone. Their eyes are further apart and larger, sometimes their eyes are pitch black with no sign of an iris or pupil. But their most prominent and curious change was their voice. While all Bug-people are capable of speaking any language, their voices have a feint but distinct buzzing drone underneath than other races may find unsettling.

Bug-person's communities are well structured and orderly with every person being responsible for maintain their homes against the hostile outside world. Their architecture is made out of stone, clay or hardened mud and dirt. The common people's homes are a series of hexagonal rooms with a curved dome making the roof of the house. More wealthy or royal bug-person's homes are larger and typically have a series of hexagonal rooms forming a circle with a large hexagonal room that stands above the other rooms   of the building.

Although a Bug-person's home may seem simple or filthy to the outside world, the Bug-people take great pride in their homes security and safety and commonly decorate their walls with engravings or paints of floral patterns. The Bug-peoples' affinity for nature and life can be seen in many aspects of their culture as it was nature that changed humans into what they are now. Some Bug-people grow quite attached to the nature of their home and bring their seeds or petals on their journeys to remind them of their home and family.

You age at a similar rate to humans but typically have a shorter life span of 70 years. A Bug-person is considered an adult once they turn 16.

A Bug-person usually stands between 3 and 4 feet tall and weigh around 120 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.

Languages

You are able to speak Common and Dronen, the native language of the Bug-people. 

Bug-skin

Your body has hardened and somewhat segmented with clear indications where limbs attach to your body like separate pieces of armor. The environment of your home has made your body tougher to resist the dangerous fauna of your home. You have resistance to Piercing damage but have a weakness to Bludgeoning damage. Your tissue is more sturdy than the soft skin of other races but is less resistant than a the natural armour of a Tortle. You have a base AC of 11 while not wearing any armor.
