Homebrew Tinean Species Details
Tineans have always been dreamers. They are a culture of storytellers, stargazers, fortune tellers, and adventurers. They have a propensity of getting themselves into trouble, but never doing it alone. No two Tinean share the same wing-print, but all share a tendency to form communities or small, self-made families.
These winged creatures boast four arms and mottled skins, giving them the benefits of strength, multi-tasking, and natural camouflage. Due to their distant relation to moths, they are often seen as meek — a mistake few will make twice. With a keen sense for danger (or a natural ability to predict what may come next) and the physique to out-maneuver most, the hopeful Tinean are a force to be reckoned with.
Tinean Traits
Always chasing the light, Tineans often find themselves as adventurers. Their abilities make them an adversary to be wary of, and their welcoming, rugged nature makes them a welcome addition to any party.Speed
Your walking speed is 30 feet.
Creature type
You are a Humanoid.
Size
You are a medium-sized creature.
Darkvision
You can see in dim light within 120 feet of yourself as if it were bright light and in darkness as if it were dim light. You discern colors in that darkness only as shades of gray.
Flight
Thanks to your wings, you have a flying speed equal to your walking speed. You can’t use this flying speed if you’re wearing medium or heavy armor.
Four-Armed
The great wheel of evolution has provided your people with an extra set of limbs. These arms can be used for tasks such as, performing somatic components of spells, grappling, or wielding weapons. Once per turn, you can also draw, stow, or interact with an object requiring no action, assuming you have a free hand.
When you attack with a weapon that does not have the Heavy property, you can make an off-hand attack using a separate weapon that also does not have the Heavy property using your bonus action. This off-hand attack does not add your ability modifier to the damage rolls, following the rules of two-weapon fighting.
Furthermore, you cannot use a shield while you are wielding a weapon with the Heavy property, or wielding more than one weapon simultaneously.
Natural Camoflage
No two Tinean share the same wing print, and all have mottled skin that provides natural camouflage in some terrains. Often, a Tinean's wings can be mistaken for the surrounding environment in artic, coastal, desert, forest, grassland, mountains, swamps, or urban areas.
- Artic: your wings and skin are snowy white, often reflective of surrounding light.
- Coastal: Your wings are reminiscent of the white-sand beaches and surrounding dunes.
- Desert: Your wings are a rich orange color. As you move, it could be mistaken for shifting sands.
- Forest: Your wings are a mix of deep greens and browns, helping you blend into the forest floor and surrounding trees.
- Grassland: Your wings boast a rustic golden color, fletched with tones of brown, allowing you to hide in tall grasses.
- Mountain: Your wings are veined in blacks and greys, appearing as stones when still.
- Swamp: Your wings are a deep brown, sometimes laden will gold spheres and black veins, fending off predators.
- Urban: Your wings are could be mistaken for red tile, brown brick, or grey city walls, allowing you to shift into the background when needed.
Fortune Tellers
Whether it be some innate ability to sense the future, wisdom passed down from a storyteller, or just plain skill, Tineans seem naturally (or unnaturally) keen in situations that others may not have seen coming. Add +1 to Dexterity Saving Throws, or saves of any kind based on reflexes.
