Homebrew Corrupted One Species Details

Coming from the deepest pits of hell and the void only to attach its anger to a victim of trauma and sorrow. A two-part race, the 'it' that controls and eats away at the soul and the person that is a living vessel unaware of the powerful being eating at the said soul. 

Distrust In Others

Hearing voices and seeing things that other humans or even races shouldn't. The Corrupted Ones tend to grow a strong distrust in others, especially when they try to help them or look at them like they are a monster. Whether it started due to the trauma that caused the corruption in the first place or the illusions that followed it, they tend to only really share with a few select people and protect that bond to death.

Becoming The Soulless 

Corrupted Ones are getting their soul eaten from the inside out, this is a thing that takes a long time from decades up to the human's entire life, sometimes it never actually kills them, turning them into a sort of demon or emotionless human. Due to this, they may have moments of forgetting where they are or who they are if only for a moment. Their alignment slowly turns from whatever it was before to more Chaotic Evil.

Uncontrollable Power

The dark power they possess is not theirs to master, but it is still there. Meaning at certain times when trying to cast spells, or focus on something, their power will slip from their soul into the world. Sometimes it is them doing this and sometimes the corruption takes hold to do the same thing. It usually happens at least once every 48 hours but depending on inner strength and willpower, it may be longer or shorter.

Oblivious Nature

Due to walking up suddenly, very much not dead, it may take them years to fully realize what is going on with them. Something not even a lot of wizards can pinpoint, seeing the corruption does not talk to them. All they know is that something is very wrong with that and there is magic they should not have and illusions they should not see.

Corrupted One Traits

A human that's soul has become infested with darkness will gain the following traits

Darkvision

Thanks to the corruption inside your soul, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colour in darkness, only shades of gray.

Ability Score Increase

Due to the newfound power eating away at your soul that is giving you false strength you gain a +1 to Strength and Constitution 

Age

Humans reach adulthood in their late teens and usually live less than a century. But depending on the strength of the host and the mercy of the corruption, the human could live as long as the corruption would.

Size

Humans vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 6 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Infernal, due to the darkness that lives in your soul that comes from the same place as the devils. You yourself cannot read it but when you pass by speaking it or see signs, something in the back of your mind knows what it means.
