Homebrew Cured Undead Species Details

A cured undead is an undead creature like a zombie or skeleton given sentience and a conscience again. Cured undead struggle against their evil tendencies as an undead creature, including flesh eating. They may not want to commit heinous acts but they may lose control at times and end up killing their own friends or living family to satisfy their instincts. After these incidents the cured undead usually feels guilty for what they have done and may fall into a depression. In order to prevent this some cured undead will cut their jaws off. Others may use alternative methods to satisfy their needs including illegally buying human meat or eating an animal while it is still alive. Once cured the undead regain their ability to talk but they are very limited in their speech, speaking very broken common.  If they end up killing someone they may start apologizing to the body over and over again for what they have done. Sometimes they may start begging for forgiveness. Cured Undead are treated with suspicion and fear and for good reason, even if the cured undead has no evil intentions. Cured undead are strong and deadly creatures, even if they were weak in life. They still look like they are undead however and cured undead are very hard to tell apart from actual undead, if it wasn't for their ability to speak there would almost be no difference.

Even though the cured undead have been (mostly) reverted back to normal they kept their inhuman strength from when they were undead.
