Homebrew bear folk Species Details

Often living at the foot of a mountain, bearfolk are a danger to those stronger adventurers who wish to climb up mountains. These folk don't bother with weaker adventurers due to them seeing it as cruel and blasphemous towards both Ursa major - their god of war and feasting and Ursa minor - their god of life and peace.

Driven Competitors

Every day brings a new challenge to a bearfolk. Food, water, and shelter are commonly fought over, mostly by other bearfolk. A single mistake can bring doom to an entire tribe, while an individual’s heroic effort can ensure the entire group’s survival.

often driven to compete with ther bearfolk, they always seek to be better as in their society, Ursa major will reward them greater in the afterlife if their feats surpass that of an average bearfolk.

They also have natural competition with Goliath's, commonly working against them for food and in battle. This has caused them to evolve to be similar in nature to Goliaths physically.

Survival of the Fittest

In their natural habitat bearfolk often have to fight for food, often causing arguments among them when in larger groups. This leads to them dividing into smaller groups of 2-3.

Their groups are structured with equality in mind, all do their job and get equal portions.

jobs:

gatherer - these bearfolk gather resources and other amenaties to often trade with other tribes of bearfolk or anyone else who is willing.

hunter - these bearfolk tend to be the strongest, going hunting for food, usually able to bring back just enough to go around in their group.

priest - these bearfolk are the religious leaders of sorts. they are few and far between but highly regarded among bearfolk, often being the priority for food due to their innate connection with the beafolk gods: Ursa major & Ursa minor

bearfolk names

Birth names are rarely linked to gender. bearfolk see females and males as equal in all things, and they find societies with roles divided by gender to be puzzling and worthy of mockery. To a bearfolk, the person who is best at a job should be the one tasked with doing it. and therefore names are unimportant to bearfolk.

bearfolk present no names when identifying one another and just adopt the names other species give them
