Homebrew Boondaburra Species Details

Down in the billabongs and lakes of a far off land live the Boondaburra. Peaceful fisherfolk they live for the simple things in life food, booze, and family.

Physical Description

Boondaburra are one of the strangest folk in existence. They have an oily fur coat to repel water, webbed hands and feet, a long duck like bill, and a flat leathery tail. Boondaburra are mammalian in nature, but lay eggs like birds or reptiles. Their bills are excellent for finding small crustaceans under water, they have sensory organs that allow them to sense small movements under water. Do to their semi aquatic lifestyle on land they have a waddling gate as they walk, but few folk are more graceful when it comes to swimming.

Society

Boondaburra live in small fishing communities, no more then 50 individuals. The leader is decided by a vote amongst the elders of the community. Their social hierarchy is based on the the amount and size of their daily catches. Competition is fierce but all together friendly, social rankings are simply for bragging rights. Boondaburra reach maturity at the age of 15, at that time they begin looking for a mate. When to adults find a mate they preform a marital dance with their chosen mate and will stay with them for life. Female Boondaburra lay between 1 and 3 eggs, and both parents take turns watching over the eggs and young. Every Boondaburra village has a brewery of some sort, whether it’s a simple distilling machine or a full scale operation alcohol is an important part of Boondaburra society. It’s believed that the brewing of alcohol was introduced to them by a traveling dwarf, after they experienced the flavors and the debauchery that followed it became a major part of their social gatherings.

Boondaburra Names

Boondaburra have two different naming conventions. They either take common names from the local human populations they trade with, or they choose names from their own language passed down from parents to children.

Female Names:

Kiturra, Coolgardie, Lingangaror, Halingbiddy, Yarragoora, Melangoo, Mullginbulla, Bungaring
