"we Hold in us the lion's Blood. We are gifted with bravery. we become strong. we shall rise together our own people our own pride and if one falls let us lift him up and bring him closer in. WE WILL PROTECT OUR OWN! WE ARE THE LIONS CHILDREN!!!"

~Xerxes. The first recorded chieftain before the first battle in the plains against a now extinct and unknown race,

Ariav are a people of the earth, living in the world and apart part of it. They live in the Sun kissed plains and savannahs where the sun’s rays shine brightly illuminating the long grasses and the soft sounds of animals is constant. Ariav love nature and fighting, healing and believe that while there is still life there is a chance to correct the wrong doings the world. They believe in the balance. That there cannot be good without evil and that no race is completely good or completely evil.

Tall and Intimidating

With their tall stature and lion like features, Ariav appear scary and intimidating to many races. They are much taller than humans on average, ranging from well at least 6.5 feet tall to just over 9 feet. They do share a similar body build to the humans, weighing only 250 to 300 pounds. Most of which is muscle. Males are generally both taller and heavier than the females.

Ariav skin is in shades of copper, bronze and a light milky brown. Their hair like that of a lion’s mane varies in its shades or blond brown orange and red though generally all colours are mixed in together, and their cat like eyes like which when they are young look like that of a stormy blue-grey while when they get older turn into shades of topaz and brown. Ariav generally have no facial hair most choosing to shave it off and little to no body hair body hair. They favour tight fitting clothes that allow them to move around freely in their hunting and fighting keeping their arms and most of the legs bare as well as bare feet.

An earthly Perspective

Ariav generally live between 120- and 180-years reaching maturity at around 40, which in combine with their seclusive style of life has enabled them to form a sort of connection with the earth and its animals and plants not in a magic sense but simply their understanding that life is all about balance. While with members of their pride they are more often playful than serious, and more likely to be curious than uncaring. However, they tend to remain aloof, serious and unfazed when around strangers. When pursuing a goal, it won’t matter who they encounter whether it be Ariav or another race they are focused and relentless. They are slow to make friends and enemies, and even slower to forget them. They reply swiftly to petty insults with violence

Like the lion, Ariav are dangerous when threatened and will be swift to seek vengeance for any wrong doings. However, when they wish to fix an issue they trust in diplomacy and compromise to resolve differences before they escalate to violence. They do not like being the ones to strike first but they will if the need arises. They will fiercely protect whoever they see as part of their pride.

Sun Kissed Plains and Savannahs

Most Ariav dwell in the sun kissed plains and savannahs where they are free to live with their pride as their chieftain desires free to carry out their own traditions without the prying eyes of other races, and it is in these places that they can hunt and fight and play. They are talented fighters, using various weapons such as yklwa spears maces and daggers. Their contact with outsiders is limited, though several Ariav have left the prides to venture among the other racesAriav encountered outside their own lands are fighters, healers, hit men or soldiers sought after by many races due to their strength, loyalty and determination

Purpose and Exile

Ariav donot generally leave their pride unless they have been exiled which can be seen by their hair which would be short (which to the Ariav shows shame and disgrace) or because they seek purpose- through a quest or job- after which they generally return to their pride and relay what is happening in the outside world. They dislike the nature of human society, which from their view is violent without reason and cause, destructive and meaningless so if they leave their pride for any amount of time or are exiled, they find careers that let them feel a sense of purpose. Ariav enjoy fighting, hunting and healing something of which is greatly encouraged in the prides but besides hunting and the occasional need for healing isn’t much use as the prides well known for their abilities are very rarely put under threat. So, Some leave for a while they might join with rebels fighting against oppression, and others might become healers for the less fortunate.

Proud but Considerate

Although they can be haughty, elves are generally gracious even to those who fall short of their high expectations—which is most non-elves. Still, they can find good in just about anyone.

Dwarves. “Dwarves are dull and clumsy. But what they lack in humour, they make up in valour. Their greed is their downfall but that cannot be enough to deter us from helping them. They are not as swift as us Ariav”

Halflings. “Halflings are people of simple pleasures, and that is not a quality to scorn. They’re good folk, they care for each other and tend their gardens, and they have proven themselves tougher than they seem when the need arises. But many are still innocent to the evil and it is that way they should stay, they are not strong like us”

Humans. “All that haste, their ambition and drive to accomplish something before their brief lives pass away—all the chaos and hatred the create and share among themselves, the fear that limits their understanding. They must be protected so that they can let go of fear and learn to understand so that they can cease their destructive ways so they can release their hatred and stop the chaos. We must protect them for they are not wise not as a race”

Distinguishing looks

Eyes- Before turning 40 the Ariav have blue-grey eyes surrounded by the normal feline yellow however as they approach 40 their eyes begin to turn topaz or a golden brown while the yellow around their iris pales.

Hair- the Ariav have three main colors being Golden, brown, and red though in most female cases having all three isn't uncommon males tend to have black-brown roots with golden tips. both genders take pride in the length of their hair and to have it cut off means that you have been exiled from the pride short hair to the Ariav is a sign of shame. once again there are albino Ariav with white or lightly golden hair

Teeth- Due to their carnivorous diet most of the Ariavs teeth are pointed and like a lion's teeth but in the same amount as a human. Their 4 incisors are also more pronounced then their other teeth though not enough to protrude or overhang from the mouth

Tail- The Ariav have lions tails that can be anywhere from 60-90 cm in length.

Nails- The nails of the ariav are claw-like in nature meaning that they are stronger than human nails and thicker rounded at the top and coming to a  sharp point these sorts of nails are not present on the feet which have normal human nails

Feet- Ariav Travel barefoot as they were all born with calloused pads on their feet which help to cushion walking and to silence their movement, it also protects them from feeling much on their feet.
