Manto Wren was a scientist attempting in secret to mix clockwork and flesh.They were covering up the work with their advanced weapons company, Wren Industries, which House Bakk was a major investor in. After the attempted assassination of Naersyl Bakk, Wren leaped at the opportunity to test their technology, saving Naersyl's life. After Wren's death, their journal was published, and within it was the secret to converting someone to Altered.

A Machine Age Man

Altered are formed from a blend of flesh and clockwork. Their metal body parts are composed of brass and gold, filled with cogs and springs, which not only replace, but surpass the abilities of a standard human.

Although they are not fully organic, Altered are living humanoids. Resting, healing magic, and the Medicine skill all provide the same benefits to Altered that they do to other humanoids.

 

Altered Traits

Your Altered character has the following traits. A few of the traits give you a choice; consider how your choice reflects the purpose for which your character was built.

Unstable Machinery

The technology that normally brings you help is somewhat, so it will break. If hit by a critical hit, you will receive a -4 penalty to your armor class, a -10 ft penalty to your walking speed, and a -4 penalty to your Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores. This effect can be reversed upon succeeding a DC 16 INT check with tinkers tools. Attempting this check takes 1 action.

Metallic Conductivity

Your metal body transmits heat and electricity very well. Because of this, you are vulnerable to fire and lightning damage.

Ability Score Increase

Your Constitution, Strength, and Dexterity score are increased by 2.

Age

The Altered, being human at their core, live and mature at the same rate as humans, maturing in their late teens and living for less than a century.

Size

Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet due to your enhanced physical abilities.

Constructed Resilience

You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
