Homebrew Vyrops Species Details

Vyrops are found primarily beneath a mountain range in a kingdoms known as the Kingdom of the Ti-Leech, but smaller, roaming communities can be found throughout the world. An enlightened monarchy, the Vyrops Kingdom is a meritocratic but highly political civilization with spectacular, but poorly renowned, art. 

The Vyrops themselves are perhaps most notable because of their inability to speak, communicating primarily by use of their powerful latent psychic potential. When communicating with other races, the Vyrops usually "speak" in pictures and short squeaks and clicks reminiscent of echolocation, or in a low hum for which they can vary pitch and rhythm. The audible nature of the later allows them be proficient spell-casters, given sufficient training. 

Part of the coming of age for a young Vyrops is choosing a path of psionic development: the Path of the Telekinetic or the Path of the Telepathic. The Telekinetic are often found prominently within the military and laborer caste and the Telepathic frequently within the political, but choice of path does not bar a Vyrops from either life pursuit. 

Outside of the Kingdom, the psionic capabilities of the Vyrops make them sought-after members of the governments of other races, where their abilities and intelligence frequently lead to rapid advancement.

Sunlight Sensitivity

Vyrops, being subterranean, are not used to the harsh light of the sun; when in direct sun, they suffer disadvantage on Attack rolls and Perception checks that rely on sight.  

Psionic Defenses

Vyrops bear a universal psionic potential, and the rigorous training they receive to hone it in their youth leaves them highly resilient to attacks upon the mind. 

Latent Psionics

Vyrops possess inherent knowledge of the Mage Hand cantrip, and the hand is invisible when cast with this trait. 

Ability Score increase

Increase one score by 2 or two scores by 1.

Psionic Focus

As a coming of age, Vyrops dedicate themselves to a particular path, that of the Telekinetic or that of the Telepathic. These paths grant access to particular spells and are mutually exclusive.
