Homebrew Abyssal Species Details

Abyssals are eldritch abominations, possessing unimaginable power. Their arrogance caused their downfall, with the gods cursing them to rot in eternal ugliness. Despite their frightening appearance, their hearts are blessed with kindness and gentleness unseen from other humanoids.

Abominations with hearts of gold

Abyssals are known for their terrifying appearance, their movements lack the grace and might they once held. They stand at the same height as High Elves, and their bodies are as slender, however, their faces are hideous. Sharp fangs that grow as large as to hang outside of their mouths, often injuring their skin. Multiple eyes are placed everywhere in their face ; An average Abyssal has around 4 pairs of eyes on their face, glowing in the dark. Their hair, long and once shining with health, are now tangled and choppy, dangle lifelessly on their head, as for their hands, long and sharp nails mark their hands.

Abyssals' coloration relies on dark colors of the spectrum. Their skin is mostly dark grey or simply dark skinned, with their hair color ranging from dirty blonde to dark purple. They usually wear rags for clothes, as their sharp fingernails do not allow for proper weaving without many injuries. Most of Abyssals wear veils in front of their face or other gear, ashamed of their hideous appearance and not desiring being the target of public shame and disgust.

Everlasting Isolation

Abyssals can live up to a thousand years, slowly giving up their magical power in exchange for a longer lifespan. Abyssals are lonely creatures that mostly live together in isolated villages in the coldest of caves abd mountains, and mostly hunt during the night. They laugh rarely and are accused of having no sense of humor. Abyssals are mostly interested in mystical procedures and religious rituals, constantly trying to find the "cure" to their curse. They are extremely slow to socialize, but hold the few friends close at heart, and never abandon them.

Abyssals, shy and scared creatures, tend to run away or hide from danger. They flee their villages often in fear of wild stampedes or possible human invasions. If they need to defend, however, they will valiantly fight with all they have got, utilizing their vast magical power and the terrifying skill with the bow.
