Homebrew Xin Species Details

No one's quite sure where (or maybe when) the xin come from, but one day these creatures began walking the ground of Ataraxia. They scattered far quickly, with xin spotted in every continent on the planet by the fourth year of their arrival. It's unclear what their purpose was for coming here but as they began to assimilate to the world producing new generations, cities, and more, they have since become an accepted species in Ataraxia.

Startling Similarity

One of the first things noted by the xin is a trait that has caused great confusion among outsiders: they all stand at 5'5" and weigh 100 pounds with grey skin, big black eyes that sit on their disproportionately large and bald heads. They all have little to new physical differences despite a wide range of personalities. Their bodies are smooth and rubbery,

Xin Names

The xin tongue is exceptionally hard to pronounce correctly given that the xin have square tongues, producing sounds that simply are different from what most races on Ataraxia can make. As such many xin are referred to in the common tongue by a variety of names, decided by unique physical or mental traits, hobbies, occupations, etc. Examples of xin monikers in common include They With Four Eight Fingers, The One Who Fishes, or She the Dragonslayer.

The xin have displayed a wide variety of skills and abilities, but they all seem to share these traits.

Ability Score Maximum Increase

Your ability score maximums increase by 4 each.

Space Travelers

Hailing from a planet with a different atmosphere full of adventurers has its benefits. You do not suffer from extreme weather conditions and can do minor activity during long rests. Additionally, you have resistance to cold damage.

Tool Proficiency

Ability to travel has become a necessity for xin survival. You gain proficiency with navigator's tools.

High Technology

The xin come from a culture of understanding and building. You gain proficient with firearms and can understand any machine with enough studying (although a History check, an amount of time, or more may be required).
