Homebrew Cat Species Details

All cats instinctually know of their greatness, the sleeping power and regality within; but for some, that greatness awakens: may the world stand in awe of their glory.

Whether by the awaken spell, or some other magical or mundane trigger, you are a cat, a true cat, a realization of what your people can be, and oh boy do you know it.

True cats look much the same as domesticated house cats, though they may have some characteristics that distinguish them from their brethren. These characteristics might be glowing patterns or marks within their fur, unusual size, exaggeratedly ferocious claws or teeth, or anything you might come up with. A true cat has access to all nine of its lives, and can easily live to 170 but they rarely pass 220 years.

True cats do not look down upon their unawakened kin, instead seeing the potential lying dormant within them all. Your true cat’s opinion ideas about their kin might differ greatly, either searching our the means of a mass awakening, or happy that their kind have not yet found the need to evolve. Your true cat might even view your kin with a certain mischievous respect, ”look at all these humanoids who wait hand and foot on my kind, if we all awakened, these idiots might need be coerced into servitude using more extreme methods. Why conquer what is freely given?”

Telepathic Communication

You may speak telepathically to any creatures you wish within 60 ft. of you. You speak in a language you know when you use this feature, and this feature does not grant the target creatures the ability to understand if they do not share this language. This feature does not grant creatures to which you speak the ability to reply in kind.

Feline Stealth

All true cats are natural ambush predators, and have the skills to prove it. You are proficient at stealth.

Slippery Quarry

You are adept at avoiding being caught. Your base unarmored AC is 13 + DEX.

Cat's Claws

Your claws are natural weapons, and use a d4 for their damage die. You may use your dexterity instead of your strength when you attack with your claws.
