Homebrew Automaton Species Details

A steampunk copy of sentient life, the automaton is a marvel of ancient engineering. Baring close resemblance to humanoids, the machines tirelessly carry out labour and tasks that have been engraved into their artificial minds. On a rare occasion, an automaton may develop full consciousness, the reason for this is widely unknown, some speculate that this is because the automaton has bore witness to some sort of significant event that made them feel semblance of emotion. Others believe that the cause is the automaton being exposed to an unstable source of magic. Many automatons give themselves a specific task once they become conscious, such as obtaining biological life, or something more sinister, like bringing about the death of their creator. Rogue automatons are generally looked down upon by the other races, being seen as unnatural and dangerous. Rogue automatons often vary greatly in personality from other bots.

Though the machine lacked a soul, a tiny spark of imagination flickered within its gears.

Being made of robotic parts, automatons have many peculiar features that separate them from other races.

Telepathic Communication

By sending robotic signals through a transmitter implanted into your head, you can tap into other construct's thoughts and communicate messages. To communicate you need concentration, you will be able to communicate for as long as your concentration lasts, or until you choose to stop.

Your memory is crystal-clear, you can remember absolutely everything you read or hear in all the minute details.

Electrical Reliance

Automatons must absorb a varying amount of a power source daily, the amount of power needed depends on the size and type of automaton. For example, a large weaponised automaton purposed for fighting would need to consume significantly more power than a simpler robot built for construction or care.

The power source has to be electric.
