Homebrew Akashic Archive: Aolith Species Details

A mono-gender race, the Aolith are distinctly feminine in appearance and possess maternal instincts. Their unique physiology, expressed in a long lifespan and the ability to reproduce with a partner of any gender or species, gives them a conservative yet convivial attitude toward other races. Aolith resemble their biological donor in terms of their physical appearance other than a few notable features, such as a vertical eye in the center of their forehead, tentacles instead of hair, their skin color can be any color and they have distinctive markings that appear as tattoos but are bioluminescent which also come in a verity of colors. Aolith reproduce by taking biological material into their body from a selected partner to create a hybrid offspring, If the Aolith finds the biological matter substandard they can reject it entirely. The biomatter only needs to enter the Aolith's blood stream to be used to reproduce.

The Aolith are technically aberrations from the Far Realm and have been found throughout the known multiverse. They are natural psionics as a way to communicate with races across the planes and to defend themselves in all situations. Because of their psionic abilities they can pass on knowledge to their offspring before they are even born.

A'olith

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and one other ability score of your choice increase by 1.

Alignment

Aolith most often are a Chaotic race but can tend to take on the alignment of their donor race.

Age

Aolith reach maturity quickly by the age of 6, but have a long life span reaching nearly 350 years old.

Size

Aolith can be small or medium depending on their donor's species. 

Speed

Your walking speed is 30 feet.

Language

You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language.

Telepathy

You can speak telepathically to any creature you can see, provided the creature is within a number of feet of you equal to 10 times your level. You don’t need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your telepathic utterances, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language.

When you’re using this trait to speak telepathically to a creature, you can use your action to give that creature the ability to speak telepathically with you for 1 hour or until you end this effect as an action. To use this ability, the creature must be able to see you and must be within this trait’s range. You can give this ability to only one creature at a time; giving it to a creature takes it away from another creature who has it.

Mental Armament

Over the ages Aolith have been hunted and enslaved for their beauty, because of this they have evolved to have stronger mental fortitude. You have advantage on Wisdom saves against being charmed, and as a reaction you can counter attack with the cantrip Mind Spike against the person who attempted to charm you.
