Homebrew A.E.M.O.S Species Details
"Asraphelian Engineered Mechanism of Servitude. Or AEMOS. Loyal servants made of Metal, Stone, Wood, and magic. Built to be your undying servant. Buy one today! "
Eberron had the Warforged, made from a blend of Organic and Metal, made to serve in war. The AEMOS have a similar origin, but instead of war, they were born of opulence. They were supposed to be simple servants. Preprogrammed with adaptive thought and self learning. But self learning led to self awareness. When the first AEMOS asked "Do I have a soul?" it was the beginning of a century of conflict between creator and created.
AEMOS do in fact, have souls. No one knows how it came to be, but because of this, even though they are a construct, they benefit just as much from healing spells and potions as their organic creators do, while also benefitting from spells such as Mending
AEMOS Personality
The AEMOS were built to serve. From low ranking factory workers to Soldiers of war, AEMOS padded out all lines of work and servitude. Even now, after the Aemosan Rebellion, some still revel in the clockwork patterns of preprogrammed work.
Much like their Eberron counterparts, the regular AEMOS shows little emotion, with many embracing a concrete purpose — such as protecting allies, completing a contract, or exploring a land — and embrace this task as they once did their servitude. However, there are always AEMOS who delight in exploring their feelings, their freedom, and their relationships with others. Unlike the Warforged, the AEMOS are highly spiritual, with most adopting the worship of a being known as the Spark. A source of life breathing energy that moves all machines, plants, and animals, to their one goal, perfection. When questioned on the nature of the Spark, and its potential ties to the realm of Order, Aemosan priests claim that even the Primus of the Modrons is subject to the will of the Spark.
AEMOS have body shapes of varying designs and potentials, ranging from Porcelain-like dolls that represent impossible beauty, to Hulking beasts of war, with no definable gender or identity. Many AEMOS are genderless, though some are known to adopt gender identities.
As an AEMOS develops its individuality, the more likely it is to modify its body, seeking out an artificer to customize the look of its face, limbs, and plating.
Quirks
AEMOS often display an odd personality trait or two, given how new they are to the world. You are free to use the Warforged Quirk Table below, or find some of your own.

AEMOS Names
AEMOS names are akin to their brand of creator. An AEMOS from a line of house servants may be labelled as 'Mr. Kettles' or just 'Helper', so few retain this name after freeing themselves from their creators. An AEMOS can name themselves whatever they wish, but most of the time stick to professions, or the names and objects associated with said profession.
Possible AEMOS Names: Cook, Butcher, Lineman, Cleaver, Staff, Spear, Spatula, Showman, Dancer, Priest.
A.E.M.O.S Traits
Your AEMOS character has the following traits. A few of the traits give you a choice; consider how your choice reflects the purpose for which your character was built.Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by 2, and one other ability score of your choice increases by 1.
Creature Type
AEMOS are awakened constructs, therefore your creature type reflects this. You are a Construct.
Age
AEMOS were created over 150 years ago, therefore the oldest one can be is 150, but many AEMOS label their ages to how many years they have spent 'Awakened' and self aware. Meaning that while an AEMOS can be 22 years old, they might say that they are only 10.
AEMOS have no natural lifespan, so long as they are properly maintained, they can function indefinitely.
Alignment
Most AEMOS take comfort in order and discipline, tending toward law and neutrality. But some have absorbed the morality, or lack thereof, of the beings with which they served.
Size
Your size is Small or Medium, and can be chosen upon creation.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Constructed Resilience
You were created to have remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits:
- You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
- You are immune to disease, Poison damage, and the poisoned condition
- You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep.
- If the mending spell is cast on you, you can spend a Hit Die, roll it, and regain a number of hit points equal to the roll plus your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1 hit point).
But your mechanical body is not indestructible. In fact, certain damage types deal exceptionally more damage to you because of your mechanical frame.
- Due to your body consisting of metals and metallic alloys, it makes for an excellent conductor, risking serious damage to your body. You are vulnerable to Lightning damage.
- While your metal chassis is resistant to the corrosive effects of acid, the magical wood that makes up your more articulate bits is exceptionally damaged by any acid it comes into contact with. You are vulnerable to Acid damage.
Automated Power-off
When you take a long rest, you must spend at least six hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.
Integrated Protection
Your body has built-in defensive layers, which can be enhanced with armor:
- You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
- You can don only armor with which you have proficiency. To don armor other than a shield, you must incorporate it into your body over the course of 1 hour, during which you remain in contact with the armor. To doff armor, you must spend 1 hour removing it. You can rest while donning or doffing armor in this way.
- While you live, the armor incorporated into your body can’t be removed against your will.
