Homebrew Amalgamation Species Details
These are the stories of monsters stitched together who stalked the lands. Some killed and murdered, and some were peaceful. Some said that the beings that fused them together were worse then the amalgamations themselfs.
She’d never given much thought of amalgamation, but these stories fascinated her. In these aged pages were tales of creeping shadows, strange and unearthly creations, mighty combinations, and the magic of the laboratory.
In most worlds, amalgamations are the youngest of the common races, late to arrive on the world scene and in comparison to humans, dwarves, elves, and dragons. Perhaps it is because of their combined lives that they strive to achieve as much as they can in the years that are forced upon them. Or maybe they feel they have something to prove to the creators, and that’s why they seek to bring all others into the union. Whatever drives them, amalgamations are the stalkers, the stealers, and the consumers of the worlds.
Many forms
With their the fact that they are fused from various creatures they are more physically diverse than other common races. There is no typical amalgamation. An individual can stand from 2 feet to over 10 feet tall and weigh from 50 to 600 pounds. A fusion's skin shades can be any color of the spectrum, and hair colors (if you have it) any color you desire (curly, kinky, or straight); males might sport facial hair that is sparse or thick. A lot of amalgamations can be very easily seen, as they look stitched together. Amalgamations reach adulthood after two weeks and live however long their creator(s) made them to last.
Variety of all forms
As amalgamations are combinations of different creatures, they are some of the most unique creatures you will ever see. Their ideas and mind are formed by their creator(s), but reflect the creatures they were made of, as well as their anatomy. If the creator wishes they can disguise the seams and abnormalities.
Pack creatures
Where a single elf or dwarf might take on the solitude of the lonely, Amalgamations seek each other out. Perhaps because they cannot bear their reality alone. Whatever the reason, they find comfort in each other, and form colony's. Usually they are no bigger than 15 or 20 at a time. In general they avoid letting others into their community, but they have been known to make exceptions.
Amalgamation names
Having so much more variety than other cultures, as well as sometimes having no gender at all, amalgamations as a whole have no typical names. Some creators give their creations names from other languages, such as Dwarvish or Elvish (pronounced more or less correctly), but most creators give names that are linked to the different beings that have been absorbed into them.
