Homebrew Whimsy Species Details

Whimsies are the living embodiment of dreams. You were born in Nimor, the plane of dreams. Your Nimor-form may look like anything at all, humanoid, animalistic, inanimate, incomprehensible, but that is you. Your appearance in Nimor-form reflects the dream that made you and the dreamer that had it. It is a desire of all your kind to one day leave Nimor and find your dreamer, your desire may be powerful or idle, but it is undeniably there. You wish to find your dreamer to befriend and protect them, to keep them company and learn of them, a platonic soulmate awaits you on the material plane. 

But to leave Nimor, you need a material form. Take audience with the Sleeper King, beseech of him permission to leave, and he may provide for you a Whimsy-skin, a material body that you may inhabit and use to leave the plane. 

Whimsies take the form of toys or other objects made for entertainment. It can be any toy at all, as long as it does not require electricity or a battery of some kind. By virtue of you inhabiting it, the body becomes able to communicate and move on its own. 

Whimsy Traits

Depending on the type of toy you are, you may have different features, but all Whimsies share some abilities

Nimbleness

You can move through the space of any creature that is of a size larger than yours.

Nobody suspects toys

You can attempt to hide even when you are obscured only by a creature that is at least one size larger than you.

Dreamy Magic

You can choose between the Thaumaturgy, Prestidigitation, and Minor Illusion

Size

Gnomes are between 3 and 4 feet tall and average about 40 pounds. Your size is Small.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 25 feet.
