Homebrew Beastkind Species Details

They is a story or what you may call a legend amoung the society of humans. That long ago a group of wondering outsiders traverse upon a Sorcerer. Asking for help to brave a strom of unbelieveable dangers. Saved by the Sorcerer, they were asked to help in an expeariment. Glad and happy to be alive, they accepted to help him.

This is where the legend turns dark and corrupt. The sorcerer turned them into beast like creatures, Then vanished. Engulfed in rage the beast kind attacked and pillage. Causing those to hunt them, now thought to be extinct. But can we really say for sure that these ancient creature perished.

 

Forgotten to myths and legends, Beastmen or the cursed. Have a hard time fitting in most places, not because of being hunted or killed, but because they are unknown and looked down upon. Being Human once does make conversation and understanding civilization easier, but still, it can be rough.

A Dying Breed

With only a handful of Beastmen left in the world, they tend to keep themselves or out of trouble. Although when pushed into a corner or caged, they can leash out wildly and madly. They mostly settle around the kingdom of Ashatar, around Ishabrim. 

Lower-Class

Beastmen being stronger and faster than others work among hunters, scouts, blacksmiths, and other rougher jobs. Some may become upper-class in society but are never really look upon as such, or even as intelligible creatures. 

Lasting Institutions

Where others might take on the responsibility of guarding a special location or a powerful secret, Beastmen found it's better to focus on people or those in need rather than protecting building, books, or objects. Even though most Bastmen is usually along, they have a weird or wired connection to there ancestors and each other. They feel their knowledge, pain, even their burdens. Beastmen kind all share a dream of unifying and building a homestead or city they can call home as they have adapted to their lives.

Although Beastmen kind is on the verge of extinction, they still enjoy other races or societies. 

Pillars of Protection

Those who venture out and seek glory, wealth, power, knowledge, and/or fame. they group with adventurers, quite protective of those they call friends and others. They usually are the first to battle, standing in front protecting all behind them.

Beastmen Names and Ethnicities

Not really having unique names sets, Beastmen usually allow others to name them or take names base on simple things. Unlike not having an abundance of names, they do have different ethnicities. Most Beastmen have Animals like features and quirks, Like a wolf or fox. 

They are many legends or myths about different variants of Beastmen ethnicities, there are only four known at the moment.

Wolf

Athletic and faster, with better senses. Wolf-like Beastmen have features close to wolves but humanoid. They are sometimes mistaking for Werewolves. 

Wolf-like Names: Fang, Moonrunner, Greycoat, etc.

Fox

Thin and more cunning. Fox-like Beastmen have features close to humanoid Foxes, with a more human look and little animal features (Like the ears, a tail, or eyes). They are less seen as Beastmen and more seen as demihumans.

Fox-like Names: Fox, Sly, etc.

Bear

Strong, Taller and bigger built. Bear-Like Beastmen have bear features and look more beefed up. More hair, bigger hands, and heads, more of a bodybuilder figure look. (WereBear Similarities) 

Bear-like Names: Grizzly, Bear, Black, Hammer, etc.

Lion

Average looking in size and built to humans, Male have fur and hair around the chin area of the face, while females are more skin and smooth. (WereTiger Similarities)

Lion-like Names: King, Beast, Lioness, etc.

 

Beastkind Traits

Beastmen are uniquely different but they all do share these traits.

Ability Score Increase

Increase each ability by 1.

Age

Beastmen reach adulthood around 5 and live about 200 years, due to their cursed nature. 

Alignment

 Beastmen tend toward more neutral alignment but don't really have an particular alignment. The can still be the best of others or the worst.

Size

Beastmen vary widely in height and build, from barely 5 feet to well over 8 feet tall. Regardless of your position in that range, your size is Medium.

Speed

The base speed of a Beastmen is 30ft.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and one extra language of your choice. Beastmen typically learn the languages of other peoples they deal with, including obscure dialects.
