Homebrew Angel Cursed Species Details

Coming from some of the most vile humanoids to ever walk the land, the Angel Cursed are truly creatures who are to be feared. It could have been because of their regret before falling, or the sadness in their heart from the lives that they chose, but the Angel Cursed are chosen from those evil humanoids as those who could seek redemption. They can be any humanoid race, and taken on any appearance. Because of that, they are often mistaken for whatever their previous race was. However, they often have some aspect of an angel floating around them that often speaks to them, these angels are invisible to all but them (and a select few), making people very wary of those who seem to talk to themselves.

Embodiment of Celestial Will

Because of the nature of their revival, Angel Cursed often have some scar or mark on them, reminding them that they are still part of the undead. The power of the angels is the only force that is keeping them from becoming something like a zombie or any other kind of mindless undead. It is said that if the angel ever leaves their bond, then the Angel Cursed will fall, and this is often a threat to keep those who wish to continue their life from going back to their old ways.

Those Seeking Retribution

Angel Cursed are not welcome for long anywhere. Depending on their history, they might become priests or paladins to show their regret in an attempt to settle down. Though many of them tend to become adventurers in an effort to fulfill the wishes and contracts with their angels to be freed of their forced servitude.

Angel Cursed will often been seen in temples, orphanages, or other nonprofit places where the most amount of good can be done. Though these creatures are extremely rare, it’s not uncommon for them to gravitate towards each other and Aasimars due to the celestial power that is keeping them alive. Others, in contrast, use twisted logic and false justifications in an attempt to live a semblance of their old life. Though these Angel Cursed are much more rare, seeing as it requires a less than diligent angel to be keeping watch of them.

Angel Cursed Names

Angel Cursed take on their previous name, choose a name closely related to the angel that is now watching over them, or, much like Tieflings, take on a name that’s representative of an emotion of remorse or regret for their wrongdoings.

Knowledge of Evil

Due to the Nature of the Angel-Cursed, they often have knowledge of evil organizations, their goals, and other things that only other evil humanoids would know (this is strictly proportional to how bad the character was in their past life). As such, these Angel-Cursed can often help decider messages from cults or other evil creatures with ease.

 

Angel Cursed Traits

Your Angel-Cursed will have abilities from their past life, as well as those that they gained from rising again

Ability Score Increase

Your Charisma score increases by 2, and one other ability scores of your choice increase by 1.

Size

Angel-Cursed are the same size as you were before you died. Your size is Medium.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Celestial Vision

Because of the celestial energy that is keeping you alive, a piece of an angel’s truesight is bestowed upon. You can see in dim light as though it were bright light, and in darkness as though it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Angel’s Will

When you become an Angel Cursed, you can chose to lose your racial ability you had before, and replace it with the Angel’s Will. This ability allows you to roll two die instead of one whenever your character has a death save roll. If you succeed, then you can rise back up with 1 hp.
