Homebrew Animalistic Species Details

A white hart sped fast, it's coat blazing through the forest, stopping only at it's destination. By a pond of whimsical, clear water—the hart shifts into a humanoid-Fey. White hair like snow, and black eyes beady. There was something about him that was ethereal. Something that should not exist...it was strange, for you could not pinpoint why.

Unknown

Animalistic are the Fey of the court of Bloom, living in the forest of magic. They transform from one animal to another, taking on these forms for their own devices and pleasure. They are never what they appear to be

A Price

With their unearthly grace and fine features, elves appear hauntingly beautiful to humans and members of many other races. They are slightly shorter than humans on average, ranging from well under 5 feet tall to just over 6 feet. They are more slender than humans, weighing only 100 to 145 pounds. Males and females are about the same height, and males are only marginally heavier than females.

Animalistic are beautiful yet feral creatures, a sense of chaos lingering in their magic and skin. While they range from 5 feet to over 7 feet, they come in a variety of sizes. Slim, curvy, short and wide, etc. Their skin comes in colours similar to normal humans, yet also shades of copper and bronze, pearly white, rich blue and greens, bright reds and firey oranges. They have pointed ears and eyes that are pitch-black.

One thing is for sure, they are able to turn into animals. There are those that turn into doves, those that turn into hart, leopards, whatever. But it is said they pay a great price to do so: their very corporal, humanoid Fey form. The more animal forms they have, the more animal they become.  An Animalistic usually follows a theme: aquatic, mammal, bird-like, etc.

Limit

Fey tend to live up until their 500s, with the most ancient thriving for even longer. Animalistic particularly, live until they're 100s, for their magic and animal forms feed off of their lifespan. Due to their shorter lifespan, they tend to be more cautious of danger, being able to make rashful decisions at times does occur, but they will try to avoid this. At least most of them, anyways. However, they can be quite curious creatures. And Fey such as them are often attracted by gold.

It is common for many of them to have multiple animal forms, being able to talk in such forms. These forms are prized amongst their Fey kind, making them desirable and enchanting to look upon. The more forms one has, it is said the better status they hold. But this comes with great risks as mentioned, and many do not dare to attempt.

Forest

Most Animalistic can be found in Bloom Court, surveying the forest. The bloom court uses a magical forest to hide its kingdom from others. Pillars of stone are found throughout the forest, and there is spotting of little homes. The center houses the castle, where the nobles live. However, vines grow along the sides of the stone, curling deep into the crooks and crannies. The thorns snag if you are not mindful.

Do not treat them poorly, as the vines are noted to have a life of their own. the forest is filled with plants that appear alive, lively and colourful. They climb along the pillars and houses. The Animalistic tend to live with nature, spending much of their time making a nest that can be found by the caste. This nest is made of sticks and magic, or even mud and clay.

Trance

Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common and Elvish. Elvish is fluid, with subtle intonations and intricate grammar. Elven literature is rich and varied, and their songs and poems are famous among other races. Many bards learn their language so they can add Elvish ballads to their repertoires.
