Homebrew Brown Bear Species Details

A large-sized mammal, normally chaotic neutral or true neutral. It has keen senses and can take a hit. Brown bears have round fluffy ears, a long snout, and big paws with long, curved claws that is normally used for digging. It can weigh between 350-1,500 pounds but they can be as small as four feet long and about 60 pounds. Height wise they are normally 3-3.5 ft tall but when standing on its hind legs it can be up to 5 feet tall.

Most adult brown bears are crepuscular, with peak activity in the early morning and evening. Young bears may be active during the day while bears kinging near civilian tend to be nocturnal. Adult bears tend to be solitary, except for females with cubs or gatherings at fishing spots. 

In order to save energy, brown bears hibernate thought the long, cold arctic winter. Hibernating is a behavioral adaptation that allows the bear to snooze through the harshest part of the year when the temperatures are low and food is hard to find.

Bears have a veritay of different traits.

Keen Smell

Because of its powerful snout, brown bears have advantage on wisdom (perception) checks that rely on smell

Forest Creature

Bears eat, sleep, and grow up in nature. Because of this bears are pretty good at being in uncivilized areas

Animal Kinship

Bears are wild animals with a place in nature. As such they can communicate with other animals with out using a spell slot. 

Natural Weapons

Your front claws and fanged maw are natural weapons, which you can use to make unarmed strikes.  If you hit with these attacks, you can deal slashing damage or piercing damage instead of bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike. 

Bestial Body

Your ursine body makes it difficult to wear clothes and Armour, or for you to handle certain objects.  Armour and weaponry may have to be custom made for you to use.  Whether you can use an item or object is up to the DM's Discretion.
