Homebrew Uniya Species Details
Child of Two Worlds
Walking between two worlds but truly belonging to neither, Uniya combine what some say are the best qualities of their elvish and orcish parents: filled with innate curiosity, inventiveness, and ambition tempered by the refined senses, love of nature, and artistic tastes of the elves. Some Uniya live among orcs, set apart by their emotional and physical differences, watching friends and loved ones age while time barely touches them. Others live with the elves, growing restless as they reach adulthood in the timeless elven realms, while their peers continue to live as children. Many Uniya, unable to fit into either rigid society, choose lives of solitary wandering or join with other misfits and outcasts in the adventuring life. Uniya are known for a wide range of skin tones across both races, though often their elven heritage influences their coloring. They usually have small but visible lower tusks, high cheekbones, and pointed ears.
Curse of Duality
While Uniya inherently gain beneficial traits from both their orcish and elvish ancestors, this dual-natured gift also comes with limitations. Their combined lineage gives them unique strengths but separates them irrevocably from further embracing either of their lineage’s teachings or traditions.
Uniya do not qualify for racial feats for Half-Orcs, Half-Elves, Orcs, or Elves.
The Call to Wander
Uniya have no lands of their own, though they are welcome in human cities and somewhat less welcome in elven forests and rarely not in orcish tribes. In large cities in regions where elves and humans interact often, Uniya are sometimes numerous enough to form small communities of their own. They often enjoy the company of other Uniya and Half-Elves, the only people who truly understand what it is to live between two worlds. The most common place to find Uniya is among druid clans, as nature tends to accept all peoples regardless of their origin.
In most parts of the world, though, Uniya are uncommon enough that one might live for years without meeting another. Some Uniya prefer to avoid company altogether, wandering the wilds as trappers, foresters, hunters, or adventurers and visiting civilization only rarely. Like elves, they are driven by the wanderlust that comes of their longevity.
Uniyan Names
Uniya often use either elven or orcish naming conventions, or sometimes a mixture of both. Those born into primarily elvish communities usually are given an elvish name, and similarly Uniya raised in primarily orcish society are often given an orcish name. Many Uniya choose to take on a new name if they leave their original community, often striking a balance between the guttural consonants of orcish nomenclature and the liberal use of vowels from elvish naming convention.
Uniya who are raised in a primarily druidic society often decide to take nature-based names upon reaching adulthood, such as Bramble, Thorn, River, Moss, Robin, etc.
Uniya Traits
The joining of elf and orc is an unlikely union, and their combined offspring have a unique combination of skills and traits from both parents, as well as ones that are unique to Uniya.Uniyan Agility

Uniya mature similarly to humans, and reach physical maturity around age 20. Once an Uniya reaches physical maturity, aging slows dramatically due to their elven heritage. Uniya can live anywhere from 280 years to 500 years, with those that take more strongly after their Elven parent usually living longer.

Posted Dec 19, 2022I love this homebrew but I wish Shadar-kai would get Gift of the Raven queen or a variant version of it. Because of its exclusive trait towards the shadar kai but a Roleplaying example toward the worship of the raven queen.

Posted Dec 21, 2022Thanks for the feedback! I had included it in the original version of the race, but had to rebalance it for use with a westmarch server and that particular feature got cut from their skills. It is listed in the original 1.5 version, which is better suited to home-game play than for a westmarch where balance is more of a requirement.
