Homebrew Vulpus Foxkin Species Details

None more have a better sight for imperfections, disorders, or the general chaos of nature than the Vulpine; commonly known as Foxkin. The origin of their sense of detail is unknown even amongst their kind. Some believe it was a blessing from a god, for some reason it came in their evolution as a mechanism for survival, or it might be as simple as their eyes are stronger than any other living creature in this realm. Either way, if it's precision and perfection you desire, I would trust no one more than the accurate Vulpine.

Fiona Wyenne, high druid of Old Burgundy

Hailing from a woods of the feywild, the bipedal Vulpine, or more commonly named foxkin, are foxlike humanoids with the innate abilities for precision and accuracy. Unmatched with a bow and arrow, perpetual perfectionists, the foxkin are known for permeant and longstanding colonies. Their apprehensive nature for uncontrollably or unknown environments lead to an innate reclusive lifestyle, pushing the foxkin into tight knit tribes and households. These feelings more and more have faded with generations as the peoples of the worlds have become more and more interconnected, however even then, foxkin might struggle in chaos.

Wandering Drive

Most foxkin remain in their tight knit tribes or colonies. These tribes largely keep to themselves. While not hostile to outsiders or travelers, they aren't the most hospitable hosts.

However, not all foxkins are satisfied with such a life. Underneath every foxkin boils an intense and uncontrollably imagination. While many rely on the security of their tribes, just as many journey to learn more about the world around them and explore its many curiosities.

Sight for Perfection

The most powerful and mysterious trait the foxkin possess is their wondrous eyesight. Able to innately detect any imperfection in an object they perceive this makes foxkin excellent craftsmen and architects.

A foxkin ranger could locate a target hundreds of feet from them, piercing the dense foliage of the forest they call home. The foxkin have been known to make the most intricate and beautiful jewelry of any race. Rings and necklaces made by foxkin are considered extreme luxuries and can be considered treasure all in themselves.

This eyesight is a curse as much as it can be seen as a gift. Many foxkin are stricken with a devouring perfectionism due to their sight. Many foxkin craftsmen have to limit the work they do as if they become too masterful, the imperfections of a common life will drive them to anxiety and unease.

Reclusive Socialites

Foxkin are a peaceful folk, warry of war, and hold an incredible distain for violence, especially if senseless.

The foxkin tribes are often very homogenous, not out of a distaste for ones different from themselves, but rather a dependence on their own. Foxkin's innate fear of chaos leads them to form incredibly dependent relationships with family or close friends.

This integral aspect of foxkin society can be seen in nearly all functions of a tribe. Often the highest punishment a tribe will exact on members is exile, as in many ways a life of solitary and isolation is the worst fate than death to a foxkin.

Pensive Politeness

Foxkins are taught as pups the worst thing they can be is rude.

Foxkin's value respect and politeness above all else when it comes to social interaction. These values extend to everything a foxkin will encounter. While looking for food, hunters will minimize the suffering of their prey. When a tribe cut down a tree to build their homes a sapling is planted straight away. Foxkin traders are often the most trusted to not scam or fool an ignorant buyer on the simple basis of it being impolite.

Vulpine Foxkin Names

Each vulpine has a given name, and a chosen name. Their given name is inherited by the tribe or family they come from, and their chosen name is decided by one's self once they are able to think for themselves. This chosen name can be changed as the life of a foxkin shifts and morphs, often one's chosen name will change many times and is never permeant.

Tribe and family names are usually based on personal feats of the tribe or family, geological features of the tribe or family's home, or a faith the tribe or family might subscribe to.

In the case of an exile, a foxkin will be stripped of their given name, and are never to be acknowledged by their chosen name.
